Default Side mirrow problem

My new to me 2005 convertible has non functioning side mirrows. With the original swich, both left and right mirrows will only move inwards, left one, or outwards, right one. I thought the problem might be the switch so I swapped out a known working switch from my old XK8 and there is no change. Any thoughts?

Possibly a dud door control module.
If you have the memory pack, do the options give any additional movement?

So good to hear from you Mike. Now that you mention it, the memory seats do not work. Lights come on when you press the set button, but no movement when the # 1 or 2 are pressed. I must tell you, this car does look and run great. Just getting through a few cat problems

I have a similar problem in my new to me 2002 XK8. The right passenger mirror works fine. However, the left mirror will adjust up and down, but not inwards and outwards. I’ll have to try the memory function when the wife gets back from her inaugural drive.

Update, I did try the memory function which is working. However, the drivers side mirror will not adjust in and out. Is this likely a burnt out motor in the mirror?

It is worth gently working the mirror glass left and right to confirm that it isn't jammed and that the glass is properly snapped onto the motor mechanism. If you push gently at the right and left edges of the glass, you won't hurt anything, but when you press it in all the way to the left or right, you may hear a click if the glass had become unlatched from the tabs at the sides of the motor.

Cheers,

Don

I will try that. I did try the memory function and the mirrors seem to move in almost all directions. It's either, as you mentioned, getting the mirror mechanism freed, or there is a problem with door panel switch.
