Some more welding....
Where the sill panels meet.

The paints been bubbling here for a few years, time to start picking it off.

Started to cut....

And a bit more......the sill is in two halfs with the rear section overlapping the front.

This car is full of poorly protected overlapping sections, really crap design.

Masked up.....

....and a couple of coats of base coat. Not a great match but the sill doesn't matter too much to me as it doesn't show too much.

Clear coat organised.

Gunman T on.

Two coats of clear on.

Waiting for the mist to clear.

Job done.

Well done. My beloved 1974 Datsun 260Z suffered from that same sill rusting issue behind the front wheels. That was by far the biggest problem with the 240Z and 260Z models. Don't know if Datsun managed to resolve it with the later 280Z models. They used rather poor-quality Japanese steel back in those days....

My 72 240z had one of the frame rails rust out due to the battery leaking. Fortunately I was able to order a new pair from JC Whitney and replaced both of them in the 80's. Still rust free with only 72,000 miles
I've never seen them rust in the middle of the sill before. I know there is a seam there so I guess it wasn't sealed properly from the factory. They always rust on the rear wheel arches though, not seen one that hasn't rusted there.
