Default sun visor vanity mirror assembly

Hi all!

The right hand Vanity mirror on my 2002XKR Cab is broken. the lid wont open properly and the light does not come on. I guess there is some plastic part broken on it but before I rip it apart I'm curious if anyone could post the assembly or any guide howto dismount it.

Also all the lights in the roof are broken, is it easy to open that plastic thingi and replace them?

Cheers.

Here's a video from member Reverend Sam on repairing the vanity mirror:

Is it also the whole Roof Console you want to remove?

And yes. I need to take it all off to replace the bulbs. Also I cant find what type the bulbs are in the center top piece.

The Roof Console is secured by three spring clips:

Gently and gradually pull it straight down from the edges to release it.

Watch out for the spring clips. They have 'teeth' and draw blood very easily! The plastic 'tongues' on the Console are also easy to break.

Quite often one or more of the spring clips remain attached to the Console as it is removed.

The Bulb Chart is in the Vehicle Care Handbook:

If you don't have the Handbooks, all the XK8/XKR ones are available for download from here:

Thanks guys!

I feel so pleased right now.
I made my first Jag repair.

Fixing the mirror using the video was a ten minute job. Then pulling down the top center consol for fixing the ligths, the big connector was detached. When I put it back all the lights worked again.

Baby steps..
