Top and rear window issue
2002 XK8, 115K miles, good condition, normally resides in the garage. After sitting in sub freezing temperatures for 4 days at the airport, the rear windows went down with the drivers side window when i rolled the window down to pay for parking. I tried to raise the rears with the roof UP button, but no luck. When I started investigating, I found the 40A hydraulic motor fuse was blown and blew again when I replaced it. I disconnected the hydraulic motor and now the fuse won't blow, but the rear windows still won't raise. Fuses on them are intact. Main goal now is to raise the rear windows. I will deal with the top later.
Any ideas?

The relays in the rear fuse relay box area can be 'jumped' to raise each window individually.
There 4 relays involved and you only need to remove 2. (the UP relays)
Leave the DOWN relays in place for the motor current direction.
Place a 'jumper-wire' in the 3/5 (30/87) terminals to energize the motors to UP.
Look at the electrical guide for info on wiring and location of the small relays.

Alternatively, you can install a button in the center console to raise the rears independent of the top position. The tap-ins for doing so are very accessible, right below the console tray. Several of us have done this to reduce the wind turbulence when driving with the top down, the difference is very noticeable. Add to that a wind breaker in the back seat and it's whole new driving experience!

Thanks!!
I got that part figured out yesterday. Now i just have to figure out what went wrong and if the hydraulic pump is actually bad. Is there a precedent for the roof latch to not release and that might cause the pump to burn out or burn out the fuse? I have not put 12v to the motor yet to see if it still works.
Thanks again, Motorcarman!

To add to my post, as suggested by Motorcarman, I raised the back windows by bypassing the relay. Reinstalling the relay cuases them to go back down. Why does this happen? Is this getting a signal from the BODY CONTROL PROCESSOR that says the windows must be down? As if it thinks the top is down? Could it be a bad processor?
Just grasping at straws here...
Thanks for the help

Things may have gotten out of sequence, do a hard reset.
Be prepared to lose all your settings (radio, windows and a lot of things you didn't know that was watching you.
Hope you don't need a radio code.

Is there a message in the INSTPK display? (top not latched?)
There are 3 microswitches in the top latch 'header-rail' and switches on the lift rams.
All the switches need to 'agree' when a sequence is initiated.
A faulty microswitch will cause an ERROR and things come to a halt.
No idea why the fuse blows?
That should not cause the windows to operate the way they do?
