Question Transmission Change

I'm wondering if the Transmission from a 94Xjs convertible will work on a 99 xk8?

No, I believe it's either a 4HP22 or 4HP24 as used in the XJ6 if from a I6 engine. If a V12, definitely not.

Nope, the XK8 had a different gearbox - the ZF5HP24, which was fitted to the XK8 from launch up until the introduction of the 4.2 Litre models which got the new 6HP26.

It's shared with X308 XJ saloons.

Motorcarman,

Would you be so kind as to tell me the best way to lift my xk8 on a two post lift. I saw your post above but for the life of me I can't find anyone actually showing where to place the pads when using a two post lift. I recently installed my lift and have so far only used it to lift my xjr6. That was rather obvious. I just got it in my little shop today and was planning on having a fun friday nigth working on the Jaaaggg. I have other things I can work on but damnit man I wanted to get it up in the air and have a look around! Thanks in advance for whomever can help. Eddy

There are FOUR reinforced metal sections welded to the 'pinch-welded' seams under the car.
They are obvious if you look closely.
Look to the rear of the front wheels and forward of the rear wheels.

Thank you so much for the reply. Just to be clear, you are saying I can put the pads on the reinforced pinch seem areas exactly where you use the roadside jack. I'm attaching a picture.

I just realized I somehow posted this in a different thread. I'm sorry. I swear I was reading a thread on jacking points!
