Transmission issues
Hey Everyone
1997 XK8 Convertable. 158K. 35K on re-manufactured transmission.
So I had my transmission re-manufactured about 4 years ago and everything has been great up until about a month ago. In the morning, upon first startup, she slips in first gear for for about 10 seconds then gently engages or if I give it gas, I get the transmission fault warning. Rarely do I get any codes but when I do it's the "Stall speed" code (forget the # as I type this). There are no problems with reverse and this only happens after first startup. She is absolutely perfect the rest of the day. I shut her down when this happens, wait 10 seconds, restart and I'm good to go with no problems for the rest of the day.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Nick

Hi.
I had a similar problem. But the cat only ran in 5th gear and limp home mode. There were 2 codes stored: P1722 and P0721.
P1722->Transmission oil level low, Selector cable adjustment / installation incorrect, Output speed sensor problem (Refer to P0721 Possible Causes), Transmission mechanical failure.
P0721-> Transmission to TCM output speed sensor circuit open circuit, short circuit or high resistance, Transmission to TCM output speed sensor circuit shielding defective, Transmission internal output speed sensor circuit open circuit, short circuit or high.
Maybe this helps.
