Default Transmission and torque convertor capacity

I have just purchased a ZF5hp24 factory-authorized ZF remanufactured transmission, and torque convertor, from Eriksson Industries in Old Saybrook, CT. Eriksson is one of very few ZF partners here in the USA. Has anyone on this forum measured how much total fluid is needed to fill a DRY ZF5hp24 'and' DRY torque converter? I forgot to inquire when I picked up the trans & TC. I can call them, but it's late in the day, and they are closed for the day.

I'd be interested to know, as I have a 5hp24 and TC to go back in the car, and I'd prefer to fill them before they go in.

You would still have to run the engine through the gears and get the fluid up to temperature and then top it up with the engine running. I managed to get 7 litres in my auto box before I reinstalled it in the car but still had to add more once it was installed.

What stops me from just pouring 10 litres in to the box/tc and then installing it? I can't believe they did a hot-top-up on the production line.

Good point. I think they use a pressurized filler on the production line rather than running hot but, you're right that they must get all 10 litres in before the first engine start.

Thinking about it, I only got 7 litres in with the gearbox on it's side but that's all I had available at the time. It was not overflowing so I could have added another litre and with two in the TC, that would be a complete fill.
