Transponder programming for XK8 2002
Hello all,
I'm going to upgrade my key to the one with integrated fob. So the questions I have are:
- which transponder is in the original key (XK8 07.2002)? As I know it should be ID13 or ID48 depending on the production year.
- is there a possibility to programm the new fob without any special tools?
Regards,
Peter

You need the Megamos ID13. ID48 is 2003 and later. You will need specialty tools to program this in.
The fob can be programmed with no tools, check the stickies.
Remember, there is no "adding" a fob/key to the car. You have to program all keys or fobs in one session, up to (5) separate keys or fobs.

peter_190,
You can remove the Transponder from one of the original Keys (by destroying it) and place it in the new (Flip-Key) and then you don't have to program anything! I did this a couple years ago and it works "Super-good"!...and then use the Key part as the Flip Key! You used to be able to buy the "Flip Key" without a Key for about $15.00 from eBay...This way you don't have to Program anything....
