Any idea where this should connect to? Single core, light yellow cable, just at the back of the battery area
Also, is this fused spur off the battery standard? Seems to go behind the carpet area and then into the boot (tailgate) lid with the main loom? Any ideas?
JLR never fit anything directly to a battery like that so it's a PO modification. The other lead is for the Transit Relay which is removed during PDI. The lead is tucked out of sight but inevitably found by an inquisitive owner.
I'm trying to find why I lose all electric power at random times, but as soon as I go near the battery cover it fires up again - never happens when I'm "playing" with it though.
Going to change the earth strap, see if that helps.
Might take off the boot cover, see if I can see where it goes. The more I do on this car, the more I'm convinced John Wayne had it before me
Thanks for all the advice, but cleaning the terminals seems to have fixed it. No heat felt, or sign of previous heat anywhere
However, I'm still concerned about the fuse rating - my way of thinking being I might as well fix it correctly whilst I'm there. Can anyone with a 2004 XKR confirm what amp rating they have in there please?
Thanks for this guys - think I've finally found the culprit for the power failure - the cable from the battery to lower left on the "High Power Protection Module"
Anybody got a source for part number for this cable, and both fuses? (Thought I might as well change both as obviously someone has been playing)
OK, finally got around to changing that cable (£108 ish main dealer) and replaced both fuses for 250A ones, see how it goes
Whilst I was in there I traced that spur off the battery terminal to this - looks like my car's phone kit was added afterwards, as a dealer option maybe? Tha box was just tucceked, not fastened, next to the media units. red lead from battery, black to a nearby chassis point, blue disappearing into the bottom of the fusebox to the rear of the battery. Haven't bothered re-connecting it with the new strap, everything seems to be working (I'd already removed the hard wired handset from the centre console
