Hey, I'm looking to get a VCM1 in order to use with my Jaguar IDS software on my Jaguar XK8 2001 Coupe.
Now the thing is found two, one is a Ford Teradyne 078-00496 (Which is the same model number as the Rotunda VCM) both are original and expensive but Rotunda being more expensive. Being that the model numbers are the same would be safe to assume I can Purchase the Teradyne and it would work the same with Jaguar IDS as a VCM? Really looking forward to anyone with experience over the subject.
Here's some pictures from the listing. Teradyne Rotunda But Both Researched to still be Ford
I've so much learn about the mysterious electronics in these vehicles. I assume that the VCM has to do with linking mobile phones and possibly MP3 files on smartphones? My '07 XKR doesn't recognize my phone for any function.

Hey, no vcm is a communication device that communicates with the cars module (dealership tools). Specifically to work with the old softwares for our cars

Yes. The VCM is a Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) that connects to the OBDII Data Link Connector (DLC) of the vehicle and interfaces with a computer running Jaguar-Land Rover IDS or SDD dealership-level diagnostic software.
Be aware that counterfeit Ford VCMs are frequently offered for sale as original devices. See the document at this link and its attachments for help in identifying counterfeits:

Just an observation re these fakes, l have a Chinese copy VCM and it has performed flawlessly but it did take some real micromanagement in the purchase and pre purchase stages to ensure l got what l was after and not one of the many out there with very much reduced circuitry within the outer shell and a few pretty flashing lights.

The Rotunda One Is For a sure Genuine, by what I see it has the gasket, holes for the lights etc. If it's a clone it's. A really good copy lol.
But as for the gna600 I can't tell what that should look like as there's no online guide on how they should appear. Every picture I find from the ones at the dealer don't look different. They both lack a gasket under the face
Either way if it does not work, eBay has my money back guarantee!
