Default A visual of incandescants vs LED exterior lights.

This evening I replaced the backup lamp bulbs with LED bulbs. I used Alla Lighting 2800 lumen part 7506 bulbs from Amazon. I thought I leave an example of how much they improve life while backing. The gleaming glare appearance in real life isn't nearly as immense as the picture. I couldn't get the exposure on the phone right to be more real life-like.

quite the change!!! I need to replace a reverse light and marker light - so will look into these. I also noticed yesterday while at Advance Auto that they carry a selection of LED bulbs

You'll pay quite a bit more from Advanced Auto. Something on Amazon for $15 might sell for $35 at A Auto. You do have the benefit of knowing you can take it right back to the store. Also consider NAPA is you're into buying local. I think they're better to their skilled employees and when push comes to shove, the products at NAPA are better quality.

Wow; quite a difference; thanks for posting! Wish my low beams were that bright!

Karl, I'm interested. Looks like "7506" is a large category of LEDs. If you have the time would you please post the link to the bulbs you purchased?

Itd be nice to just click on something you know will fit and work so well. I'm going to replace one of my HID aftermarket low beam bulbs. The transformer died and I had to pop an incandescent bulb in - wow I forgot how bad they were.

Thanks, John

Oops! Red faced follow up:-). Guess I read this one too fast. I didn't realize back up meant reverse (not spare)! I was looking at karl's photo - the lights were so bright I thought they were low/dipped beams.

That's why I was asking about the 7506 nomenclature. In my wisdom I figured that maybe LEDs have a different numbering scheme.

Now that I'm centered, I'll pick up a pair of these for my reverse lights.

Hey if you don't mind me asking in this thread: are LEDs brighter/about as bright as HIDs for low/dip beam?

Guess I'm at a crossroads of should I buy a new ballast and reinstall the HID bulb (fighting to keep it clean and undamaged while I insert it), or move to what might be a simpler to install (no separate ballast, no finger oil concerns right?) LED with similar performance.

Though with the embedded fans I see in the picture I wonder how I'd snap them in place.

Karl, thanks for a great post. Thanks again for the quick response guys, John

John not sure about differences in brightness between HID/LED as I have halogens so the LED's would definitely be a + for me. As for the fans - most are removable to allow install, then snap or screw in place. I am looking at the H1 led equivalents and have seen prices from $49/pr up to $300/pr

I thought about putting in LED's but at the time there were some bad reviews by other forum members. I opted for HID. As I said previously its one of the best mods I have done on the car.
