Jan,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK8/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow the advice I gave in my reply to your Intro and add vehicle details to your forum Signature.

Graham

Jan, Your post was not clear about the warning signals -do they turn on with traction control enabled and one of the wheels looses a little traction like on an unpaved road under a bit of power? If so this is normal and is supposed to happen. I see mine light when I do a hard accelleration from a traffic light down the road when I cross over the 1 meter wide metal grate embedded in the road 75 feet from the light with one tire. I was suprised to see even that very short traction compromise is captured by the car.

I'm sure you know all this already but maybe you can say a little more about the symptoms so we can help a bit more?

Need more specifics on the engine rev? and what the "OTHER" lights are
Are you driving in wet conditions and the rear tires are letting loose and the trac control is kicking in??? Are you loosing power?

Default lights

Hello,
About my car its aa xk8 4 liter from may 1997 , with a 110000 km on
its runs smooth ,but like now the lights of the abs , the traction control are coming up normely they stop after a nights stay but this time they stay on.
Alsoo suddenly the raps are going up until about 1200 1500 raps with no reason
this stops after a couple of minits , the car is not loosing power and runs very nice.
As we do a lot of car runs with it ,its quit irritating beacause you have pushing al the time the switch on the steering wheel ,
It would be very nice if you could help me
greeting jan

Jan,

Stick with us here. I might not have the answer but I'd like to help you clarify this so experts understand exactly what you mean.

Let me summarize - you are seeing the engine speed (RPM = revolutions per minute) RPM increase to 1200 or 1500 for now apparent reason.

When you say ABS and Traction control lights, do you mean the message under the speedometer with an amber warning light, or the warning light (ABS) that normally only lights during the test cycle when you first start the car? I want to be sure I understand which "lights" you are referring to.

Quiermos aprendar, pero tengo una problema. Yo pienso, qual luz? No es claro a mi. Nessito mas palabras por favor.

Jan, Just got back from a drive. When you say Traction control, do you mean the red traction control button light, or the ASC message with the amber light at the bottom of the speedometer?

Thanks Jan, thinking back - when I forgot to connect my ABS sensor on one of the front wheels once, it was the red light with a failure message. Try doing a search on cleaning abs sensors in this forum. It may help get to the bottom of this. You know what there have been alot of posts about brake switch failures impacting other systems like this. As I wrote that last one I remmeber you said this was a swinging problem. I highly doubt a faulty switch would be a swinging problem in any way. I'm sure someone smarter than me will chime in here.

Could be several things. You should pull the codes, preferably while the light is on
