Default wheel sizes

hello all;
I recently crunched my baby, a triple black 98 conv. Caused by a deer. Damage along the left side including a creased doorsill. At about the same time, the trans crapped out. While I,m working out what to do with it, I got an 01 xkr coupe in carnival red. Low mileage and in better shape. Question is, I,ve got new tires on the 98 on the 17" revolvers. The 01 has 18" double five wheels. Will the 17" wheels clear the xkr brakes? It would be nice to get the use of them.
Thanx; Don

If the XKR has the Brembo’s, then no, the revolvers will not clear the brakes.

Generally, ALL supercharged Jaguars have larger brakes.
I know for a fact that the 16" X308 sedan wheels will NOT fit a SC XJR.

I never tried a 17" wheel on any SC jags. The X100 is pretty much the same as the sedans when it come to the differences.

All the SC X100s I have seen have 18" minimum.

Are there more than one brake option on the xkr? The calipers are not visibly marked as brembos.

I heard the XKR needs 18" wheels or it will throw codes. Speed sensor codes i think.

The rear wheels can rotate slower (never faster) than the front (larger tires on the bigger wheels) or the TRACTION CONTROL will activate.
The TC activates because it detects the rear wheels spinning faster and uses the ABS module to mitigate 'wheel-spin'.

All the wheels can spin at the same rate OR the rear can spin slower than the front.

Rumm5...

One of the nicest-looking Wheels that Jaguar ever put on the X-100 was the Double-Five! Sometimes you just have to gut it out and "Buy New Tires"......You will be Happier in the long run...... !

Brembos will not be visibly marked "brembo", although that name is cast into the caliper on the inside unseen face. They will be an obvious 4 pot caliper (2 visible from each side) wearing a decal of one type or another.
