Default Wind Deflector

My (new to me) XK8 came with what I believe to be an OEM Wind Deflector and from reading various posts here, I gather it's an earlier model which is fitted with a key operated mechanism.
In fact, the keys are not really necessary - I can get it on and off without them but there's less chance of scraping the leather if the latch mechanism is retracted before fitting.
But - I don't have any keys.
If anyone has this earlier version, is there any chance of taking a close-up picture of the key please - I might be able to get a locksmith to cut one for me if I know the size and shape of the blank to use.
Thanks - as always - for any help.
Cheers,
David.

I just discovered this item recently myself and am considering one- it's key operated? That strikes me as odd. I wonder if all the keys are the same if so. Or are you talking more of a standard tool-like key?

Looks like a padlock type of key-hole. 23.15 here so dark outside - will post a couple of photos tomorrow.

undo one of the end fittings and take it to locksmith and they can make a key for you.

David:

If you get a chance, post or send me a picture of your deflector mount.

My car has a fitting that I was told was for a wind deflector mount (but the car did not come with a deflector). It did, however, come with an odd looking pair of keys in the glove box that I have no idea what they go to. They are pretty cheap looking and look almost like they would go to a suitcase or very low security padlock.

If there is a chance they would fit your defector I'd be happy to send them to you.

The lock is indeed similar to a padlock. That's a very generous offer, but probably not necessary. I can use it OK, and I would guess that there are different patterns for the keys. I will unscrew the lock bit and take it to a local locksmith who will probably be able to help.

see post 15 does your fitting look like that?

then you need item pictured which I see has a slightly different end fitting than above.

If you solve this problem, please let us know. For others searching for wind deflectors, there's a good listing at windscreen review.
