I took some new pictures of mine tonight. Was I trying to be artistic with the black and white pictures or was I trying to hide paint defects? Perhaps both.
Also, in these pictures, you can see the cat in its natural habitat, the petrol station! Haha!

Default Love my XK8 "Miss V"

took this photo while waiting in the mustering area for the Quadra Island annual Mayday Parade, during which I would carry the May Queen and her consort...
Changed the plate to read "Miss M" with blue tape, to reflect the name of the May Queen, which started with an M.

Just curious. What did "Miss V" stand for, the Virgin Queen?

To answer the question, "What does Miss V stand for?", my youngest granddaughter is Valerie, and I named my car after her so that as the youngest and smallest she could have something to lord over her siblings...Grampa named his car after her It does have a bit of a mysterious ring though, so I do love the name.....

I did, until very recently, have a perfect color matching X Type that was destroyed in a rear-end crash while stopped at a light on the highway on south Vancouver Island. After a long search, I've found a replacement that while not color-matching is slightly newer and much rarer, being a 3.0 Estate.

My matching set - summer XK8 and winter X Type 3.0

the new X Type - my soon-to-be winter daily driver...

EBay, I got them from seller 8ru. I only bought a pair from him back then, but I checked and he is at the moment selling a set of four. https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-x-Jaguar-...s/402702204342

As you can see, that's only the lens. I had to take my old reflectors, remove the lens, and use an adhesive to attach the clear lens on them. I used 3M double side tape and so far it is holding up well. They have been on there for about a year now.

Just polished the old girl so I thought I'd take a couple of shots to remind me what she looks like clean.

The light was a bit iffy as the heavens were about to open.

Also showing my erstwhile neighbour's house across the lane. Features in the 'Real Housewives of Jersey' for anyone sad enough to watch it. Now on the market for silly money.

michaelh,

I've looked all over my Map of West Texas and I can't find Jersey! Could you explain to me where it is?

While admiring your Coupe, I thought back over the past to 1998,when I bought my first XK8 Coupe...It was a 98 Topaz Coupe with Revolver Wheels! I found it on the internet at a Mercedes Dealer in Louisville, Kentucky and wanted it so Badly that I drove through the Night from Houston, up through Mississippi, Tennessee until I finally got there about 2PM the next Day and did the deal....Left the Dealership my Gold Lincoln Mark VIII and then headed back Home...I just plain LOVED it....until the Right Bank Tensioner went out and Cost me 2 or 3 Thousand Bucks! (I won't go into that anymore)....Anyway, this Lady chased me down one afternoon and made me wait until her Husband could come write me a Check for it, as She was not going Home without it....A Texas Beauty and She knew what She wanted!

After that, I have only bought Black XKR Coupe's and as you know, I'm still driving my 4th one! You have taken great care of your Beauty! Congratulations on having a real Winner!

The Real Housewives of Jersey is actually a British reality show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Re...ives_of_Jersey

B.C.
Look around W.Texas. See if you can find 'Holstein', and have better luck with 'Herford'. Likely near 'Big Spring'.

Thanks, all for the kind comments.

Billy - Love the story - and your black coupe too. It must be task to keep her shining: Black shows just about every tiny smudge

Jersey is a small quasi-autonomous island (9 miles by 5) about 80 miles south of the UK, and 14 miles west of France at the nearest point. From Wikipedia:

MiragePro - I'm not too sure about the 'reality' bit

Thanks for the Geography Lesson, Michaelh! But you have left me with this question, Sir? Does this make you English, French or Jersey? Sorry that I am confused about this but it has been about 70 years since I've been in a Geography Class! If you would, I would love to learn abit more about your Homeland.....and you know, I would be more than Happy to return to you any knowledge of Texas that you would like to know about.....!!!

Actually, the Black isn't so hard to keep clean! About once a week, Missy runs it through the Car Wash, I keep it in the Garage at night and during the day it sets under a Car-Port at the Office. I do the polishing each Spring and Fall and that's about it....Of all wonders, I get to drive it 365 Days a Year, as the weather here seldom gets down to Freezing....We are currently having one of those Winters this year... the first Snow we've had since 2017! I'm going to use the new Ceramic stuff to Polish it with this Spring and I will report the outcome to you with Photos! The biggest Problem I've had with the weather has been my Headliner.....It fell down about 5 years ago and I had it replaced with Alcantara. Thought it would be OK for years to come....but it fell down on the Driver's side again last Month.....Guess I will just try again, as I don't know the secret to that....I guess the point is that I love the Car, Headliner or not! So there!!!

Take Care!

HOW MUCH!

When fuel was that price in the UK, all pictures were in black and white.

Hahaha, that's 75¢ for 87 octane, and 85¢ for 93 octane per liter. But, that's expensive now. Back during lockdown, 87 reached a record 49¢ per liter, and 93 octane reached 59¢ per liter. I could fill up the Jag with about $32.00

I wish the price of fuel dropped back down that much again. I am filling up now at $48.00

I filled up last weekend at 1.23 UKP (1.71 USD) per litre for Regular. The last time I could fill a Jaguar at PR rates was my XJ6 Series One in the early 1970's!
