Wow us with your XK8/R photos
Triggered by the remark of putting makeup on Mona Lisa, I would like to know what you guys think of the minor modification that the original owner put on the hood of my '97 XK8 convertible; Have seen at least 1500 pics of similar cars, but never with this extravaganza...
Anyone ever seen it? Should I keep it on? (will removing it leave damage?)

Just got it back from detailers! It looks black in this photo but its really dark metallic bronze/brown.

Yes, to many a dismay, the leaper is back!! But as before, simply badge tape, no holes. Easily removed when I change my mind as I always do!!
Have you changed it already? That leaper just doesn't belong there. It negatively affects aerodynamics, fuel consumption, weight, and just doesn't work with the XK8s sloping hood.
OK, I know Phil does this from time to time just to start the debate again, but must be a lot of work putting on the tape, making sure it is aligned right, etc., etc. Then reversing the whole process and cleaning any residue off the hood, etc. Ad nauseam, ad infinitum.
So Phil, do yourself and the forum a favor…install this.

Just had to buy this car to have something to fiddle around with. 2000 XK8 driven by a little Ol Lady from Tallahassee, 50k on the clock and I just replaced the secondary tensioners, thanks to the help from this forum it was a piece of cake. She runs great, smooth and quite and gets a lot of attention. Happy Holidays to all.
WOW, what size wheels and what is the tire combination please
Some old fart who owned my '97 XK8 before I did put one of those ghastly things on the hood. To me, that's right up there with putting a fake convertible vinyl top and wire wheel hubcaps on a Cadillac CTS. I promptly removed the still kitty and sold it on eBay for $50 bucks to somebody with an S type. Just plain wrong on an XK8/R, but hopefully that trend is dying off with the old generation who can't separate themselves from the olden days of the XJS.

Hey Rezz - Thanks for the compliment. Wheels on the pic are 19". As far tires they are 265/35 - 19 in rear and 235/40 - 19 on front. When I bought the wheels they threw in a set of used tires so I am getting them replaced soon with the following:
235/40-19 in front
275/40-19 in rear
Also I recently put the growler center cap on the wheels making it look somewhat stock now. Gives it a more modern look I think... heres the post if you wanna take a look.
