XK8 / 2005 -> Bluetooth (as Motorola "no service") upgrade and AUX in
After successfully (thanks to www.thejagwrangler.com) replacing the useless Alpine SatNav I am now keen on solving some other issues:
1) Original Bluetooth
After having done a lot of research it is obvious to me that Jaguar would have offered for my car (VIN A42xxx) a Bluetooth kit but the first owner didn't order it. Instead, I am having a Motorola hand-set which - for whatever reason - does not work anymore. The PIN of my SIM is accepted but the phone doesn't find a provider anymore ("NO SERVICE").
Instead of solving this problem I was wondering if it is easy (which might not mean cheap) to add the Bluetooth In-Car now. My Jag Dealer has no idea and I have read a lot on the net but I didn't find anyone (hopefully only until now) who has made the upgrade. Would I need to exchange the phone unit or any other electronic support unit? I do not want to have any Parrot et.al. solution but the the original one if possible.
2) AUX In
I had a simply Cassette adapter hooked up with my iPhone but the cable is not Jaguar-ish at all so I am looking for something real.
Has anyone fitted this JAG-CDR iPod Adapter with CD Changer Retention for Select Jaguars :: iPod Adapters & Interfaces in his car already? Does it work even through quit parts of a song? I just wouldn't like to miss the chance using also the CD changer if it's easily possible. Could anyone confirm that if the Alpine SatNav was installed also the CD changer is from Alpine? It isn't mentioned in the manual and I didn't want to remove it from its rack (actually, I was afraid to remove it as the convertible motor sits on top of the rack...)
Any help is more than welcome! Thanks!

Unless you have a 4.2-S which is fitted with Bluetooth as standard, then Bluetooth would have been a very costly option for the first owner.
If you are considering retrofitting OE Jaguar rather than an aftermarket alternative, this should not be too difficult as the vehicle will have most of the harness already fitted.
The problem will be sourcing the PSE Unit (Item 1) and Interface Module (Item 8).

Thank you Graham, now I finally understood what my dealer meant when stating that I do not have the "latest model", as I do not own a 'S' version.
However, meanwhile even Jag importer Austria claims that a bluetooth upgrade for my car is not possible but only for S-Models.
Having in mind that the S-model has no substantial technical improvements received I would still bet that an upgrade is possible based on your proposal.
Unfortunately true - price for the PSE is very ambitious and I couldn't find the interface module yet at all.
From the draft I'd guess the interface module is taking the place of the phone receiver, isn't it?

The essential for a straightforward upgrade is having the telephone harness already in place and I'd be surprised if a different harness is fitted to BT and non-BT vehicles.
The easiest way for you to check is to see if the harness with the blue connector for the PSE Unit is behind the rear seat back:
Also that the harness with the yellow connector (arrowed in red) for the Interface Module is under the Centre Console:
Given the enormous cost of the PSE and Interface Module, used parts are the only practical solution.

Thanks for the pics - my car has all the wires in place but you are right: the cost for the upgrade is ridiculous! Jag dealer quoted mit € 1600 for the PSEU (C2N3421) and more than € 800 for the interface module (was C2N3689 and is now C2S49706).
Getting it second hand seems to be tough as well...not a buyers market...Besides that you cannot even be sure that all new phones will work with it and testing it is impossible.
Was finally seeing an Alpine specialist today and it looks like that a decent Parrot installation with no visible displays or mic is the only option and will amount to roughly € 400.
As it could also solve the AUX challenge I might have to admit that my wish to stay as original as possible is not feasible anymore.
Jaguar is obviously counting on the solvency of its customers that if an upgrade is wanted they just go and by a new car!

If mine didn't have BlueTooth fitted, I wouldn't consider a retro fit because of the cost and the limited phone compatibility.

Could anyone tell me where to find out if my xk8 2005 jaguar Chassis No. SAJAA41F252A42083 has bluetooth? .... It has a factory fitted phone and the 'mic' above the drivers seat.

An alternative is to try putting it into phone 'pairing mode' by entering ##3#*# on the keypad.
However, if it does have Bluetooth capability, there would be no reason to have a factory phone fitted in the Centre Console.

spiderman - I have the jag-cdr adapter installed and have not noticed any issues during quieter portions of songs or transitions.

You Jaguar Dealer will tell for certain as they have access to the original factory build spec for every XK8/XKR vehicle.

The bracket for the PSE appears to be for a coupe, is it? Is the PSE mounted behind the gas tank inside the trunk or behind the rear seat inside the car?
Is the Bluetooth module located inside the center console? or is it somewhere near the PSE? Do you happen to know how the harness to the PSE runs?
I have since found an instruction manual that xjrguy kindly posted Here:
