Default XK8 Coolant Loss

Hello everyone. I am relatively new to the forum, but have learned a lot from all of you already. I have a 2000 XK8 roadster with 102k on it. I thought I had it pretty much all in great shape now, having been through a broken tensioner, chain, bent valves, etc., the blown out hydraulic line in the windshield header, and some less drastic problems. But lately it has been consuming coolant at a rate of maybe half a cup per hour. I can't find any evidence of coolant outside the engine or under the car at all. I don't smell it anywhere, either in the engine bay, inside the car, or the exhaust. But the cooling system doesn't seem to pressurize, either. I just put a new coolant reservoir cap on it, and still no pressure. I have my own fears about this one, but do any of you have any suggestions, or experience with similar situations? Thanks for the help.

Doug

Welcome! Buy or rent a cooling system pressure tester kit. Pressurize the system without the engine running and you should see/hear the source of the leak.
