Default On an XK8 coupe, where are the trunk lights fused?

1998 model -- Looked at all the descriptions on the fuse box cover, couldn't find one saying "boot lights" or "trunk lights." I'm guessing they're fused with something else. Anyone know which one? Thanks.

Jess

There is a fuse chart in your owner's manual and in the FAQ sticky above.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...8-r-faq-33555/

While specifically for the 2002 model year it is about 99% correct for all years.

Thanks for linking that; it matches up with what's printed on the top of our box.

However, neither the box nor this PDF makes any reference to trunk lights that I can find. One new thing I did see on this PDF is a reference to "stoneworker lights," which is not normal nomenclature in Alabama.

I will check the Stoneworker fuse tomorrow to see, but it is co-fused with the LH tail light, and the LH tail light works. I was hoping someone might have prior experience with the trunk lights themselves, but if I must I'll pull each fuse individually.

It would be fuse number 7 in left side (US driver's side) dashboard fusebox. The glovebox and visor vanity lights are on the same circuit, so if they work, a fuse is not your problem.

I thought you were dreaming that one until I checked the PDF!

On an XK8 coupe, where are the trunk lights fused?-stoneworker.jpg

My copy of the US Spec Vehicle Care Handbook shows Fuse #21 as 'SIDEMARKER' lights.

I don't know if your trunk light issue is resolved but I had both lights not functioning. The fuse was good and after some investigation I found the microswitch in the trunk latch failed. To access the switch which is part of the trunk latch, remove the trunk floor, then remove the close out panel at the rear of the trunk (4 press in plugs and 4 screw in plugs). Mark around the latch washers so when you re-install it you can put in back in the same location. I ordered a new switch assembly for about $60.00 and installed it; yeaaaa - I have trunk lights. To test to see if it's the switch you can unplug the switch at the connector and short across the female end; If it's the switch, the lights will come on. My old switch tested OK with a volt meter but still was defective. Hope this helps. By the way, the XK8 interior lights are controlled by a interior lighting computer (located in the rear fuse box just aft of the battery), the trunk switch sends a signal to the computer that in turn, sends power to the lights.

Good luck
