Default XK8 rear subwoofers

All the recommended rear replacement subwoofers for 1998 XK8 with Harmon karden system are discontinued. There are no recommendations for ones that will fit and sound decent past 2013. Don’t need thumping, just decent price and sound. Any recommendations? My factory ones are blown for second time. Replacing them myself this time.

Default I used Kickers ordered from Crutchfield

Hi,

i used Kickers CompRT subwoofers, ordered from crutchfields website.

Check out the previous thread.

I would suggest you check your mount’s hole diameter exactly before ordering.

You don't specify coupe or convertible, which will lead you down different paths but one thing to note about the coupe is that is rather an odd size. It has been a number of years since I replaced mine, but if I recall the OEM size if 8+some odd. I ended up mounting a shallow depth 8" and had to make an adapter plate for the package tray.

Default Subwoofers

It is a convertible. This the two rear panel subs.
Still looking for replacement models that will fit without modifications except for the ring. I don’t want to take everything apart just to figure the dimensions.
Apparently this is common to replace. Someone can hopefully help with a make and model sub that will fit and work.

Default Subwoofers

Jim,
I used Pyramid PW677x6” 300 watt 4 ohm. Fit right in. I do have the premium sound. I also replaced the itty bitty tweeter while in there.

i believe i used infinity speakers, took old ones out and went to best buys with them, matched the size, including depth with what they had and bought them for about $100 two way speakers i think it was years ago, but the work took hours and i had to solder the wires as there is little room to work with the shot wires provided. works perfectly.

If you want to retain the stock speakers, google "Recone Speakers"

Default Rear subs

Thanks, I’m thinking of doing that to even keep them as a backup set.
