Default XK8 spoiler?

Morning guys, can someone confirm if the spoiler on the rear of this Xk8 is a genuine jaguar part or is it an after market one?

Regards,
ArtyH

That's not OE Jaguar for a UK spec vehicle.

They do have an inherent design floor, the way the spoiler sits to the trunk lid causes a water/dirt trap

I did something similar(ish) sometime ago but it stood higher on the lid

Just a quick update on the spoiler. Contacted the breaker and he said £100 for it. I asked if I could remove it, he said it would be removed by himself only. Rang up today to see if it had was ready for collection, was told cannot get boot open to get at bolts and they did not have keys. Told him how to get in via the cockpit ( he did not know ) and was told ring back. I suggested it may be better to just leave it on the boot lid as it would be unsellable with 4 holes in it, was told oh we will still sell it mate.. Rang back and asked if it was O.K to collect ( 75 miles return travel ), and was told it was bonded to the boot lid and they smashed it trying to free it. The Cretans lost the price of the spoiler and the boot lid through greed! I was also after some replacement sound proofing for under the bonnet ( hood ) and was told the one on the car was mouldy and torn at the front end, they still wanted £30 for it, I said " just keep it with the spoiler mate " and hung up. Stupid amateur's cost the company money through ignorance and greed.

I'm pretty happy with the one I got from Zeemax.

My favorite thing you've done to your car is the tail lights. I've got the led rings just haven't attempted taking apart the lens.

XKRacer sells a spoiler modeled after the XKR, and me and a couple others found an ebay seller offering these replicas painted to the factory paint code as part of their price. Its been on my car for a couple years now, and it still looks perfect. I really like the addition. But if you want a 'look at my ***' spoiler, this will be too boring for your taste.

Thanks for taking the time to put the pics of your spoiler up H2Oboy, they look great on your car!
The reason I wanted to get the one pictured was it was local and I thought it would be kind of different, however the butchers at the breakers yard prevented that.

Arty,

It was a neat design. Shame they wrecked it.

Please send me a PM with the breaker's name.

I usually go south to Darlington for used spares (to Eurojag who are very good) but if I have to go north to Northumberland, it would be useful to know who to avoid!

Arty, + 1 with Graham.

Graham put me onto Eurojag a year or so ago who I have used several times. I find them to be very knowledgeable, friendly and their service has been excellent.

Hello Graham, P.M sent FYI and thanks for the info about eurojag, I have used them a while ago for a part for my XJS and they were helpful.
Thanks for the confirmation Andy, and taking the time to add to the discussion.
I have found a one on ebay but it looks a bit battered and needs quite a bit of work, I've put an offer in for it, but to be honest not bothered if they accept it or not. I'll let you know how it turn out.
Cheers,
Arty

Back from the dead... but my '99 XK8 convertible gets sketchy past 130mph. I heard the TV show 'Top Gear' attributed it to poor aerodynamic lifting the big, round *** rear end. Accordingly, I am looking for a real FUNCTIONAL rear deck spoiler and far more than a racy looking styling cue. Can anyone attest to the effectiveness of the small 'lip' spoilers? Please just don't tell me I need a big stupid wing!

I'd be looking for the actual problem (suspension, tyres, etc) rather than trying to fix the symptoms.

Anyone who wants a cheap but effective spoiler for the xk8 consider the x150.
you can get them from the junkyard for around $80, the're not a direct fit, but with the aid of a dremel file and craft knife it can work.
you only need to run one thin wire, as you can earth the brake light in the trunk.

Actually the spoiler itself caused the light front end at 130mph+
The uneeded downforce in the rear actually caused front end to lift more than it should.
It needs to be counteracted by a front air dam to plant both front and rear,,just running the rear hurts more than it helps except for looks.
