Default XK8/XKR Cup holders now available at SnG Barratt

Surprised it took so long for someone to start offering this replacement part, but good to see it's priced below the market (under $300)

I don't need one yet and was reluctant to use mine for fear of breakage. Glad this is out there.

Hopefully I will not need it but it's good to know they offer one! And for only $181.00 complete that's not bad.

Thanks. My one still works well - at letting the cup fall out and splashing coffee all over the place....... where can you get a flat cup that doesn't fall out? - now that would be a useful part

I agree - that's really why I never use the damn thing. Only reason I'm tracking this is it's hard to sell one of these cars with a stupid broken cup holder held down by electrical tape.

Not ready to sell her yet but when that day arrives, nice to know there are parts like this.

Here is an exchange I had with SNG about this.

Hello,

It's virtually the same in appearance but Jaguar released this as a repair piece. So it should last longer. I've sold a few over the years and never had anyone have any problems, as always our parts have 12 months warranty.

Regards

Sng

Dear sng.barratt,

Is the cup holder prone to the same issues as the original? Breaking and not securely holding the cups, or is there any improvement?

And this is how I fixed my cup holder.

Default Stock cup holders suck

So I replaced mine with some I bought from a shop that builds custom parts for hot rods. They hold Starbucks cups perfectly. Details in my thread on my car: (I've made a couple modifications). They won't hold a big gulp (good since I'm not supposed to drink them) and they don't expand so you are stuck with Starbucks sized but it holds all of those amazingly well.

Here is the thread and below are a couple pictures.

Good to see SNG have the replacement part. However, I removed my cup holder and replaced the leather bolster for one without the cut-out. I don't miss the cup holder at all. Cost for a replacement lid was $30.

Best wishes, Colin

Nice. Not sure I would want that metal Jaguar emblem on the airbag cover though - if it ever goes off you'll be eating it!

Has anyone had to fix the ash tray cover in that it does not stay closed? I noticed that with mine the lid retracts and will not stay latched,

I think you have to remove the entire centre console to gain access to the ashtray cover lid mechanism

If its the latest & greatest it should be a metal cup holder not plastic. I was fortunate a few years back, they were unobtainable in the UK but Pauls Jaguar in Ft Lauderdale shipped me a brand new armrest complete with metal cupholder matching my trim code for less $ than the repair item was here (had there even been one available.

Yes I have that all out and ready to look into the repair but I could not find a post on the forum that covered anyone having done so.

The repair part for the console lid has been available since 1997.
Jaguar stopped requiring complete console lid replacement and issued a TSB (13-33) AND (501-06) way back in Dec 1997.

They used to be around $75 back then.

I think I am going to use the rubber band option for now to hold it closed.
