XKR Brembo Rotors

Congrats Fred,
Jaguar recommends you replace the rotors when you replace the pads. I now I use the Brembo Rotors from autpartwharehouse.com, they're 65.00 ea. and free shipping. The're just plain not drilled and I don't know anyone who would turn drilled rotors. Not sure of minimum thickness, I had it somewhere, maybe check your manual. I also currently use the performance friction pads. They are'nt very clean but stop great. I know others liked the akebono ceramic and ebc red stuff pads. If you want drilled or slotted rotors, I have used EBC rotors on other cars in the past and worked very well.
If you search the forum you may find more info. Good Luck

I am not sure of the minimum spec on the discs but can say I have cut them before with no problem, they can be resurfaced on a standard lathe. The discs for your car are completally different from those fitted to a 1997 car. I think you will find the rotors for your car are quite a bit more expensive.

From Fred Tayler Thanks for info but I have to say the Brembo's in the handling package are Larger dia and thicker than those on the regular XKR AND they are integral with the hub!! ie expensive, somewhere on the forum I recall seeing the pads alone cost$435 (front only). Must keep searching. Someone else must surely have an XKR with the handling package upgrade.

The minimum disk thickness recommended by Jaguar (but also other venders with similar discs) is 30mm (and 6.7mm wall thickness according to JTIS, but I can remember 2 different sizes as they are not the same per wall).
I went once for 28.5mm (of course not recommendable), also had to red rill the conical part of the holes so they wouldnt get filled to quickly with brake pad material.

Your are right,there is a lot of differences on your brakes compared to a '97 XK8.
Start with the guys at Autoparts Warehouse. Here is a link;

If you search the forum you will find that there are a varity of opinions on pads and rotors.Your choices are a little more limited because of the preformance package(Brembos)

Thanks for the info,much appreciated. I found plenty of data on the regular XKR rotors on the zeckhausen web site but nothing on the larger rotors in the Handling package. I probably have a little life left in the rotorsat present but the outeroriginal brembo pad is down to about 4mm so I will have to watch it! Thanks again Fred
