XKR Steering Problemos

Hey all, I'm a newb here to the Jag forums.
So, I recently bought this 2001 XKR and the steering is as vague as a politician's promises. It drifts terribly in the front end. Dangerously! I replaced the sway bar bushings. The ball joints are tight. I'm down to the rack. I appreciate any input. If you don't have an answer, tell us a funny joke.
i'm fresh out of humor tonight...but relating to your problem, my car felt like it was 'wandering' when my lower control arm bushing was gone. New ones, and a fresh alignment (could aline be your problem) and the car is straight again.
If it were me, i'd find a new alignment shop that will 'load' the suspension so the toe is correctly set. Thats a biggie that often gets pooched!

In additions to forementioned check the upper strut mounts, the nuts should be exactly centered with no degradation of the foam(for lack of better word) around the nut. This is a common issue with time and drops ride height and creates too much negative camber. Other than that a proper alignment is the direction to head after that
While he's in there, check those upper mounts... really helps to have 'non saggin' ones to bring the camber back into spec. Just saying, while he's got it apart. Those things simply age and give up.
Q: Why don't the British make computers?
A: Because they couldn't figure out how to make them leak oil.
(....Thank you very much folks, I'll be here all week!)

Sway bar bushings would have little if any impact here; ball joints might help a bit, but I'm with the other Dpez - how do your control arm bushings look? How many miles on the car? I suspect that if the rubber bushings are blown (visible cracked or egged-out holes instead of a tight fit), that's like a torn rotator cuff in terms of steering stability. It's also a very labor intensive job. Good luck.
