XKR used prices vs future of XK name

Is this anyone car here in the st Louis area?
Nice looking car... price is way above private party value but a sweet ride. I love those custom tail lights vs oem.
Now back to the thread topic, the XKR coupe prices are all over the place. It's hard to nail a consistent price range. But with the minimum of a 2 years of Jaguar killing the XK the value of an old generation typically falls dramatically.
So buying a XKR at the higher end is risky in terms of actual value. Say if it's totaled in an accident or storm. Then one will be stuck with a loss.
Does anyone have any future designs pix or thoughts about the future of the XK.

The F-type has been taking sales of the XK down since its introduction. money talks. And don't expect immediate jumps in older XK values. There are too many current body XK's out there to sate the market for now.

I heard on the radio at the weekend that the last XK came off the production line on Friday 8th August but I haven't been able to find written confirmation of this. Perhaps not surprising as Jaguar want to focus media interest on the XE Launch in London next month.
Over the eight year XK run approximately 54,000 have been produced. The previous XK8/XKR model totaled 90,616 so scarcity of either range isn't going to be a factor to drive up values for some time.

Hopefully we'll live to see the explosion of the XK... I personally think this era is going to be more desirable than the 2007-15 models with the exception maybe being the XKR-S.

While my coupe gets tremendous attention and positive, unsolicited comments, I find demand for it quite weak. I suspect I will simply have lots of great memories of my XKR and having driven it to the ground. By the time our XKRs become valuable mine will be a parts car and I will be retired (I am 45 now).

I don't think they will go up in value that much over the years but I think they have bottomed out. I think the 97-2006 is one of the best looking Converts/hardtops on the road in the USA anyways. I think they will always bring tons of looks and thumbs up but I think to the mainstream public this car will never outrun its image of it being a HIGH MAINT pc of junk car which it does not have to be for the most part. The same stuff that goes out on it goes out on my run of the mill cars, just costs more to fix.
It does have lower overall production numbers so that will help the value down the road as more leave the road forever. It will never be a 65 XKE, but nothing really is. I say enjoy it till it drops if you can afford it.

I just plan to drive my car into the ground and have fun! It's been the best daily driver toy car I've ever owned and I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.
I'm 27 and by the time the car is a collectible, I'll also be an antique. And at the 7k a year I'm putting on it, it will have 400k miles.

I think 20-30 years out. The cars are still too common. I have 90k on it now, and really at my current pace, it would have 230-300k miles. I think the collectible cars will be the XKR Convertible first, then XKR Coupe, the XK8 Convertible, then XK8 Coupe. I know the production numbers make the coupe rarer in both performance variations, but history has shown, the top goes down, the price goes up. I think mine won't be collectible as it's a relatively high mile daily driver run o the mill XKR convertible.

I think gas/petrol will run out before they become valuable and by that time none of the electronics will be working. So I think we all just have to enjoy them for what they are and forget the future.
Another high volume V8 was the Mercedes R107 SL, my 30 year old 450SL only cost me £4.5k, still too many of them around to have any real value.

I bought my 2002 XKR because I thought it was the most beautiful car since the XKE. It is my great joy to drive it and I never plan to sell it. I kid with my family and friends that I want to be buried in it. However, I do actually specify in my will that I want it listed on this forum after my death so that a true Jaguar lover can buy it and take care of it.

Those of you who upgraded your cars with LSD, different rear ratios, and the neat interiors of mjlaris are a unique sub-category. I have met two people here in Denver with older coupes like mine but they splurged on new paint and fabulous interiors that combined equaled my initial purchase price (not including the maintenance). mjlaris, may you live long, but when you car goes on it should certainly be put out to those who would really appreciate it.
