Default 06 S-Type 3.0 wet and now rough running

I'm new here and just bought this 06 2 weeks ago and has been running great.. First time in the rain yesterday and had to limp home.. Ive already read everything I can find this morning.. some say just let it dry (doing that) I also read about WD40 and CRC spray and have not tried yet because there are mixed reports on both..

Plenty of information here to read to give you some ideas of what to do. Use the search phrase "moisture in the throttle body". If you do nothing else, pull the air duct from the throttle body and let the car sit in the sun or put a hair dryer on it....

Or it may be water past the cowl and then dripping on loom / PCM.

Yesterday I had a hair dryer on the mass air flow , the throttle body , all the coils as I read worked for some here but I haven't been into the PCM.. I'm still running on 3cyl.. The ELM327 I bought worked for codes until this rain thing happened now it just reads "interface communication error / OBT2 time out" so I'm at a total loss there too.. I ordered a iCarsoft 930 yesterday. I also read about getting into the PCM and may try that today.. That seems to be a bad place to put that PCM where water can run down on it off the windshield and there are several posts to calk or weather seal the area.. I'm open to any other ideas.. Thanks all

It's a good place to put it providing water does not go where it should never go.

Unable to communicate does rather suggest the PCM is in pain for that as well so I'd be removing the glovebox to take a look / looking at engine bay rear / pouring water (hose pipe etc).

Thanks Jag... I did get my ELM code reader to work again.. I went and plugged it into my van and it worked there.. Went right to the Jag and it worked there too.. It said "no codes stored" while the engine was limping on 3cyl. (sounds like 3) When I get to the PCM should I use the hairdryer ? or remove the connections and use contact cleaner that I use on music gear ? Not sure...
Oh! I read somewhere here that disconnecting the battery would reset things so I gave that a try for the heck of it while I was at my van.. Then reset battery and tested the Jag,, Could I have erased codes when the battery was off ? Thanks again

It may be so suffering that it can't set codes. Or you may get many. Time to stop wondering and go looking.

Default Knock sensor chafed wire?

I had similar symptoms awhile back, with no codes initially, the car would stumble in wet weather, then returning to running normally in dry conditions. To diagnose the problem I began to drive thru as many puddles as possible until it finally threw a knock sensor code.

Turned out that when splashing thru puddles a chafed wire on one of the 2 knock sensors would get wet and cause the car to stumble and eventually throw the code. Voila! Replaced both knock sensors - they are really inexpensive - and problem was resolved. Car now runs like a champ in wet weather.
