Welcome to the fold. The pump is on the front of the engine, on the UK passenger side, about level with the water pump and its pulley is driven by the same belt as the water pump. It has a cap on top with a little dipstick attached to it. The cap is hard to see the first time you look but a torch and looking just behind the pulley will find it. Check the level first, check the belt tightness and perhaps change the fluid before doing anything more drastic?
The pump just unbolts, and apart from access problems (welcome to V12 XJS land) is not in principle hard to change.

Or you can remove the return hose from the back of the pump and just let the oil drain. Messy, though ! Of course you'll never get *all* the fluid out. There's still oil in the rack itself and all the pipes and hoses.
Or find the lowest hose/lowest connection in the system, undo it, and let the fluid drain.
Or a combination of methods.

I have tried the small hose in the reservoir but it really does not get much out. Not sure I want to remove any PS hoses and make a mess. LOL... Guess I'll just keep taking out a few ounces every few weeks.
Hopefully Dave, that started this thread, only needs to add some ATF/Lucas powering steering fluid to cure his noise.
