Hello everyone, We just picked up our 26, Black on Black with extra Black lol. So far so good!! i do have a few questions - hopefully someone here has the answers .
First question, we weren't able to get ours w/ Painted calipers - im going to handle that on my own here in the next week or so - My question here is around the painted vs unpainted. It seems that the painted calipers have a "cover" of sorts screwed into the caliper with the word Jaguar on it. Has anyone tried to drill/tap and install that cover on the non-painted calipers? Are those covers even available? I'd like a Stock look - just in my own color.
Second question is around All Weather Floor Mats - i'd like to buy a set but im having a difficult time finding them with "jaguar" on them - i want them to look OEM but i want the style similar to weather tech's (more of a bowl vs a matt laying flat) we have pretty harsh and messy winters here.
Third Question - We purchased the 6cyl model and its very fast but i do notice that there appears to be a pretty noticeable "throttle lag" - esp in comfort mode. Are there any utilities/packages out there that could address that w/o compromising my warranty?
Last question, is there a software update or addition that could be added for Proximity locking/unlocking? I cant seem to find it as an option to turn on in the car..
Congrats! I have an all black 2025 SVR - its a great look!
I believe the factory calipers are powder coated, not an add on part. In general I think the add on covers look tacky (and might fowl the wheels as there isn't a ton of clearance if you have the larger brake calipers. I would suggest just getting them painted. I had a performance wheel shop do it on my Jag XF - it wasn't expensive. They spray painted with a high temp brake paint in red, then applied a decal I had made via ebay with the Jag and Sport logo on it, then a clear coat on top. Drove it for another 6 years after that and still looked good as new! Others on here have done it DIY...
I would recommend the Weather Tech - it's works well and keeps the grime and winter off the carpets. If you really want the logo you can take out the weather tech one and add in a Jag logo instead. Personally I don't think anyone is looking down at the mats!
Avoid driving in comfort mode! I always drive in dynamic - much sharper throttle response, better gear changed - and in the SVR better exhaust note too! You can tune them, but would prob avoid that on a brand new car
Here are what the factory red painted calipers look like. As you can see, the part that has “Jaguar” on it is just a cover to cover the open area behind it. I believe the only difference between the painted ones and the non painted ones (on the 26 model) is that plate..
you can find them on eBay (full caliper) and you can see the plate is screwed onto the caliper
That little cover snaps into the holes in the caliper, if your caliper has them, it should fit. I will check my work car tomorrow out of curiosity, as I though they all had them. Mine is R-dynamic but only a P250, not the real engine.
Dynamic mode is your best bet, any 'tuning' or aftermarket parts added to help with throttle response are not approved, and could potentially lead to warranty issues.
Proximity unlock is not used on the Jaguar products, you need to touch the handles. The antenna range is sub-par, and the system is badly susceptible to outside interference, however there are updated keys coming mid-year that should help with that.
I had a loaner Range Rover Velar with the proximity lock / unlock. Nice idea in theory but a total pain in practice. Try and unload groceries - trunk open and every time you walk over to the house with a bag, it tries to lock, fails as trunk is open and double beeps
Walk around the yard cutting the grass or charging to a neighbor. Car keeps locking and unlocking as you get close.
i also have an M550i that has proximity locking/unlocking.. Its nice when you're walking away from the vehicle for sure - its a huge PITA when you're walking around it not intending to get in it.. Lock/Unlock/Lock/Unlock.. The Jag is technically my Wife's and shes forgetfull.. the walk-away and auto-lock would be great for her..lol
also.. Holy HELL- i took off all the brakes today - on a brand new car with less than 200 miles on it - Those Caliper Bracket bolts were SOOOOO tight.. Im completely exhausted.. But Cleaning and some Color tomorrow.. Ill post pics when done.
Well they take the torque specs pretty serious on the brakes, as they don't want them to be loose.
Just an FYI, the system is supposed to be in service mode when you remove any brake parts, as it could automatically pressurize itself in certain conditions and cause injury or damage. Be careful.

-yeah, i was pretty careful. I've done lots of brakes over the years - i made sure the rear e-brake was dis-engaged and then disconnected the plug at each. I even went as far as to pull the motors off of the calipers. I reused all the pads (obviously b/c they are brand new) so i didnt even have to retract any of the pistons.. All is good- Test rides etc all completed w/o issue.. Pics coming nect.
Not the E-brake alone, but the actual hydraulic system. It's not a regular system anymore, the ABS pump generates all the pressure in the system, not the pedal. Glad it went smoothly for you.

my 23 challenger has this its not too bad but my 24 equinox has the auto lock feature and its very annoying. I get out of the vehicle to say pump gas it locks right away. Groceries is the other, get home grab a couple bags put them on deck and its already locked lol.
