Default Alternate Serpentine Belt Question for '17 SVR w/ VAP Crank Pulley

Hello all, hope everyone had a great X-mas! So I've looked everywhere here and I've done a million different Google searches and can't find an answer to this question. I have a 2017 F Type SVR and have the VAP crank pulley, a custom-made pair of resonated downpipes and 200 cell sport cats from VAP, and their tunes for both the engine and trans. I have been getting what seems to be a sort of click/squeal from the belt I think. When it first started I applied some belt dressing and it went away for a few days, then I would reapply it and so on. Well now the belt dressing doesn't do anything. I currently have the car on my portable lift and have cut the old belt off after struggling with it for a couple hours. I realized that i didn't want to risk damaging anything taking off a belt I'm trashing anyway. With the tensioner maxed all the way out there wS just no way to get it off.
Anyway, the question is does anyone know of a belt available at the chain auto parts stores that works perfectly? I am going to order the longer one from VAP regardless, but if there is one that I can buy locally I'll do that too, and either use it till I have time to swap it to the VAP one and keep it for a back-up, or ill just use it till it wears out and keep the VAP one in reserve. I bought one already that I read about here, but it is wrong as it is just one-sided. It is a Continental/goodyear gatorback that is 58.5" inches or 1486 mm and 8 ribs but ONLY single sided. I can't find one that is 8 rib double sided and that length or at least very close to that length.
Does anyone here have a make and part number for one that will work?

I forgot to mention, the only way I could get the belt on a year ago when I installed the crank pulley was by leaving the crank bolts loose and running the supplied belt thru and over everything else, then slipping it on yhe loose crank pulley and then tightening the bolts down on the crank pulley. Prior to that I tried for a couple hours to get it on the normal way with the tensioner all the way maxed out, and I mean maxed out to the point that the flat steel pulley bar was starting to bend!
Has anyone anyone else experienced this belt noise i descibed in the first post? I checked the pulleys that i could reach by spinning them by hand to feel for any play or noise and so far none of them seem worn out. But then again, there is no real way to put the kind of pressure the belt wS putting on them from being so tight.

Just to clarify, are you talking about the supercharger drive belt?
It seems you are BUT the thread title is "Alternate Serpentine Belt Question for '17 SVR w/ VAP Crank Pulley", and most people understand the serpentine belt to be "the other one", i.e. NOT the SC drive belt but the other belt which is used to drive various accessories such as the AC compressor and alternator.

The belt you got is for earlier crank pulley design where a one sided belt and a new idler pulley was needed.

It’s normal that the belt sit so tight, When i had the vap pulley installed, the installer asked “you sure that’s the right belt?”

vap did this to accommodate all or most aj133 applications.

Sorry for the confusion. I always referred to the two different belts as the serpentine belt and accessory drive belt. The serpentine being the belt that runs around the crank pulley and supercharger pulley. The accessory drive belt being the one that goes around AC compressor, water pump, alternator, etc. The one I'm looking for is the S/C belt. Does anyone know an alternate belt besides the VAP options I can possibly buy locally?
I think the belt that i got with the new crank pulley would have been fine if i had also swapped to smaller SC pulley, but with only the larger crank pulley installed it literally was impossible to get on or off without also loosening the crank pulley for more slack. I'm a strong dude and I have every tool you can think of to help get it on or off and I had no luck. And yes, that was with the tensioner pulley absolutely maxed out to the compressed position.

I can't comment on the correctness of your belt, after installing the VAP stage 3 tune on 3.0L I had noticeable and consistent click/chirp when decelerating. Belt dressing did no good. After about 2,000 it went away.

I think VAP sells a longer 'XL' belt if the included one is too tight. When I installed a larger crank pulley (from another vendor, which includes a smooth idler pulley and thus enables use of 1-sided belts) the included belt was also so tight I had to 'roll' it on while hand rotating the crank pulley and then also maxed out the tensioner, which leaves no room for the tensioner to absorb shocks during quick deceleration. I also experienced belt chirp/squeal which prompted me to try different lengths and brands of belts until finding the one that solved both problems. This post may help.

Default My Experience

I was running VAP’s Stg2 on my ‘17 R using their double-sided 1470 belt. This is their recommended belt size. Same goes for Stg3, which I now have installed. There is a 1485 belt, however, my understanding in talking to Stuart is that it’s only for those who find the 1470 too tight and want an easier install. I wouldn’t recommend going outside of these…Stuart did mention the Continental too, but it’s not recommended or ideal given it’s not double-sided (I’m pretty sure). I did the same search as you when I needed a new belt and ultimately came to the conclusion that store-bought wasn’t the move and ordering from VAP was the best route.
