Agree, the foam traps a lot of moisture. Aluminum doesn't really corrode, alloy has a risk of having real corrosion, but this doesn't look meaningful in any way either. Best wishes on the cooling upgrades!
Coolant runs on both LH and RH sides of the charger cover - those front plastic bits are coolant connections. I think MAHLE makes these for OEMs and is the parts supplier to Eaton/JLR.
Yes, but my photo is the bottom part, where no coolant runs. I think that there was just a misconception that the black bit is a hole, while it is just a foil from the foam.
Yes, my mistake on not clarifying my post. I was saying only coolant runs in this portion and tried to find a good geometric drawing. What you showed is the "spacer/cover" portion of the assembly.
The black portion with bits on, is the plastic foam pad removed from the underside of the Eaton charger. I'll try to find a picture of a factory charger underside, but if you look at your vehicle you can see a black sheet poking out between the intake manifold and the valve covers.
EDIT: Here's a V6 charger underside. It probably looks similar under the foam. The listing shows 32k miles on it, so it looks newer.
This is what mine looked like when I took it out after 7 years and 21,500 miles.
I look forward to permanently removing the foam, as it's just for noise reduction but results in corrosion. Unlike what @J444G is experiencing, I am hoping it peels off easily like @mvining - looks like a mummy wrap!
That is a hidden bit!
I changed the drivers side cat which is shown in that picture and I never saw it. I will look closer next time the car is in the air.

That picture is deceiving. If you have a 5.0 AWD vehicle, there are actually 2 drain plugs. One in front on one side and one in back on the other side. BUT, you have to remove the A/C compressor to get to one, and you have to remove the mid differential to get to the other one.
Here’s mine after 10 years and 30k miles. Deleted the foam packs or at least what was left of it…. Garage queen btw…🤫
It’s crazy how bad some of these look! Mine’s done 200K miles and looks brand newish, no corrosion at all and all shiny new. I did remove the foam a long time ago and it left behind brownish glue residue. I used solvent to clean it but it’s not perfect.

My 2016 has just under 30k miles, and the underside of the intercooler housings looked the same. I ditched the foam packs and cleaned up the corrosion as best I could with a wire wheel. I also had a few valve cover bolts that had to be replaced as well.
My 2016 R at 92,000 miles was clean, no corrosion and the pads were fine. I had not been leaking other than the little plastic elbow from the thermostat to the water pump.
Is it possible those experiencing rust and corrosion leave their vehicles outdoors or spend a lot of time in water and rain? As I mentioned previously I wash the engine frequently with no ill effect.

To be honest, my bonnet even does not have vents, just 2 tiny holes around plastic clips... Really no idea how this happen. When I see @pascal 's situation, I am even more confused - one side like new, one side probably the worst here...
