Default Car shuts off in Park, cant put top up?

Here is one for you all. When I place my convertible 2016 F-type R in park the engine shuts off and I cant put the convertible top up. Anyone run into this issue? The dealer says as long as you don't disengage your seatbelt the car will continue to run. I am not at my car so I haven't had a chance to try that. Are there any other tricks to keep the car running to put the top up safely?

With ECO mode on I only need to put it into park and apply the park brake and the engine shuts off*. I do not need to remove my seatbelt buckle. UK-spec 2015 R coupe.

* it may be park brake first, then transmission into park, I forget which way round.

I thought this was a bug that they fixed. My car does that, but since I leave it in dynamic most of the time, that defeats ECO, which stops the car from shutting off.

The dealer is right about the seatbelt.

Mine works weirdly sometimes. Putting in park and setting the brake while in ECO mode, will cause the car to (usually) turn itself off without pushing the button. I've never considered that it might do that because either I or my passenger has unlatched the seat belt. I've also noticed that when I park and put the top up, it will stop midway because the car has turned itself off. Again it might be because of the seatbelt. But in order to get the top all the way up, I have to actually start it, not just turn it on. Really a first world problem.

Dealer told me to keep the seat belt on after placing the car in park then run the top up. I will test the dynamic and ECO mode positions while the seatbelt is on. Pain in the butt that the car turns itself off when placing it in park (for the convertible version anyway).

Only does that in ECO. As you state, it kills the roof/windows when it does that, and you have to start the engine, not just turn on the ignition. Very annoying, but I only do it once a year or so, since the car is almost always in dynamic (i.e. ECO off).

The dealer is right about the seatbelt.
On my '16, Dynamic mode does not disable ECO.

Also, I haven't been able to get the top down since I got the car .

Given me the Jaws of Life and about 1 minute and I'd be happy to permanently fix that problem for you
