Default Clicking noise after engine shut down

I had the JLR dealer replace the coupler in the supercharger snout and now when I turn off my engine (V6, 46K miles) there is still a kind of klonk-click sound. Below is a link to a short video I made, listen around 10-11 seconds in. I don't know if this is normal or an issue since I've only had the car since last December If anyone has any insight, it is appreciated.

What did the dealer say?

I wouldn't be concerned personally..but if it wasn't making that sound earlier..

They replaced the coupler twice, and I"m scheduled to bring it back in again on 7/1. The engine running after the second replacement no longer has that "can of marbles' sound so I"m wondering if the coupler is now ok but that sound is just normal?

It sounds perfectly normal to me. It is not displaying the sound of a faulty/failing coupler.

Yep, when I had the dreaded worn coupler rattle the shut down clonk sounded a bit different to that of the OP's.
Hard to describe but his sounds "plastic" while the classic clonk is more metallic, and I still get a noise on shut down sometimes which I believe is a relay turning off.

Thanks, so the sound you hear at 10 seconds into the video is what all F6 engines sound like at shut down? Just trying to get a handle on what is "normal' since initially I had the "coupler clunk"

The sound at 10 seconds is not from the engine...it sounds indeed like some sort of relay shutting off. There is no abnormal engine sound. Relax and enjoy this beautiful car.

all of the clonks after turning the car off a few seconds are normal on the electronic actuated supercharger cars - does not happen on my early 2010's vacuum actuated superchargers

So I've done a bit more research using perplexity ai and found this article link below where the op provides a video with the exact same sound I have.
https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewto...rce=perplexity
The conclusion on that thread is that it's the ECM calibrates the position of the throttle plate at the beginning of each ignition cycle. When the ignition is turned on or off , the ECM performs a self-test and calibration routine by fully closing the throttle plate and then opening it again. This tests the default position springs and allows the ECM to learn the fully closed position.Just posting here for anyone who searches this article with the same question.

Huh. So you don't think it's the throttle plate open and closing as a result of the ECM self test?

I occasionally I hear some clicking sometimes with my 2024 R, but it appears to just be coming from the exhaust area cooling down etc…That’s what I assume anyway…

If your concerned can you remove the SC belt and do some tests? It won't throw a code or hurt anything but you will develop a great appreciation for the blower!
Man will the car be a dog without the SC turning!

Does the noise on shutdown change without the belt?

I think it might be isolated to V6 engines, but my 2018 R-Dynamic makes exactly the same sound. I've tested it on the drive with bonnet open and it's definitely the throttle plate actuator making the klunk-click sound on shutdown.

You might be hearing the electronic valves switching to the open position on shutdown if they are in the closed position when the car is shut off. They make a metallic 'snapping' sound.

there is definitely clicks that come from the engine back upon shutdown, at least under certain circumstances.

Absolutely impossible, as the Claws Out mode you so graciously gave me so much fantastic information about when I set it up is literally ALWAYS engaged. Only time it is not is if I’m backing the car out of the garage for just a wash :-)
