Default Dead battery inside Key FOB ....

Hi Guys,
my 2017 F Type R is in winter storage. I learned today, the battery is now dead. Battery must be replaced with a fresh battery.
Is this something I can do myself? Once the battery is replaced will the Key FOB need to be reprogramed? If... the dealer must get involved, approx how much do they charge for such a service to change and reprogram the Key FOB.
Thanks for your replies and information.
Rob

You can replace it yourself. Does not require reprogramming.

That's what I suspected but I wasn't 100% sure. I have the correct battery number. ( CR2032 ) so I'm good to go! Thank you for the verification.

[QUOTE=Turko;2494934]Hi Guys,

Please note: your new battery will almost certainly NOT be fully charged at installation. Make sure that it is brought to full charge. Do not accept a statement such as “the battery tests GOOD”.

His key fob battery, not main battery. I think it's in the manual, but if you haven't opened the key fob before...
Slide off the metal part, revealing the emergency key.
Remove the key, and slide it into the slot. Pry apart the 2 halves of the clamshell.
Replace battery, and snap it back together.

FYI - If you need to replace one, you should replace the one in the other key, too. I remember it taking less than a minute.

^^^This. The battery in my everyday FOB went dead so I switched to the back up. It went dead a few days later.

Default Thank you to everyone .

Thank you for all the replies especially the instruction from member DJS.
Now I don't have to fumble with the key fob in my hand examining it and looking at how to pry it apart. Straight forward instructions easy enough to do. Thank you so much!
