Not sure that's a good example. Engines like that only had to last a couple of hundred miles and often they didn't.

Exactly. Pulling extra torque and power out of any engine will shorten the life span if driven mostly at peak performance. A 250 hp MINI engine will last ~100k where the same engine tuned to 200 hp will last ~200k. Question comes down to how often you are willing to replace the engine. Most folks on this forum are planning to bale out long before it's an issue, so it's someone else's problem. In my case, it just turns into another project.

"New, more supportive, sport seats..."
I'd pay extra $$$ if they could just find a way to move the driver's seat back another two inches, and down about another inch.

That's my only real complaint with the car, the cockpit is a little cramped for me (6'1" with long legs). With the helmet on that I bought for the track, I have to scrunch down in the seat, and even then, the left side of the helmet rubs up against the inside of the roof.

LA,

You're not the first 6-footer to report this, but it always causes me to scratch my head. I'm 6'2", 180 lbs., and with the seat all the way back and down, I'm actually too low for my preference. I raise the seat up a bit, for better visibility and still have head room to spare and a perfect leg position. With a helmet, I could easily go down more and have plenty of room.

Perhaps there's a difference between how the base car seat mounts, which only has two electric adjustments (height and recline), and the full power seats w/ memory. Seat forward and backward in the base seat is manual pull handle below one's right leg.

He should have bought a convertible, not an issue for us.

My brief time in the the car today with the 14 way seats, I had more adjustment below and behind. Must have had a full 4 inches above my head. I too am over 6'1" (used to be a full 6'2") but have a 33" inseam (maybe that's the reason it works so well).

Mine has the 14-way seats, and one thing I've noticed (and my sales guy even mentioned it during the test drive) is that if you keep moving the seat back or down, the system bottoms out and thinks there's an obstruction, and moves the seat back forward and up a couple inches. That makes it hard to determine exactly where the stopping point is, at least for me.

I raised it all the way up and shone a flashlight under the seat to make sure there really wasn't an obstruction, and I didn't see anything. And based on how the seat sounds like it's rubbing when it's that far back and down, I do have to believe it's getting back and down as much as it's able.

For normal driving, it's not a big deal. But when I track it, I'm sure I'm going to get tired of the helmet rubbing against the left side. Makes we want to consider swapping the driver's seat out for a racing seat that might buy me a little extra room, at least on track days.

$150,000 is a dangerous territory for our beloved Jags.

For their sake, i hope they'll deliver a strong package in order to fight the AMG GT-S, McLaren, 911 Turbo and the slightly used 458's and Gallardos and even Astons.

For $150k it needs a mad factory tune - 650/700 BHP or go home.

I still see the front grille crossbar, something they could've easily eliminated and the rear wing is a little underwhelming/conservative.

You could mod your current coupe to look like all of this, including lowering and an engine tune to 620BHP for $10k extra so it needs to have something special for me...

Heck, if you just want the 617bhp, you can get that with a Eurocharged software tune and pulley for $1,250 (plus the install on the pulley if you don't do it yourself.) I don't think any of the rest is really worth that price.

That's not really Jaguar's MO...look at the XKR, XKR-S, XKR-S GT prices. the GT is something like $170K but same HP. But lots of aero bits, CF, tuning.

It would be nice if 150 large bought us a lighter car. Not holding my breath though ...

At those prices I would rather go up a bit more and get a McLaren 570S.

Agree. Once you get to $150 better cars exist. I would go with 911 Turbo at that price, or spend a small amount more and get the McLaren which as you say is the best option.

I agree at $150k it is pushing range for this car. But LR is selling RRS SVR for $112k and getting it so I guess it makes sense to Jag.
