FR500GT's F-Type Build Thread

Awesome build and totally exciting to watch... I've built some less expensive cars over the years including a ground up turbo Miata. My SVR leaves me with very little left to desire but maybe over time I might find some things I would like to change. I agree the R and SVR have ample power as mine can easily break all four loose when you drop the hammer on it.

The thread is awesome. I will reach out to you next time I am in LA. The body shop is estimating that my car will completed by the end of Feb. Was able to order the SVR bumper and add an Eventuri intake on to the car. Looking forward to see how it sounds once I get the car back. Loving your car.

Thanks for that, I had no idea what a "stock rear ring" was, now I know it was meant to be "stock rear wing" (ie spoiler).

ClearPlex Installed on the Windshield
As the track season approaches, it was time to ClearPlex my windshield. I was out at Chuckwalla this weekend with my brother for Bimmer Challenge and the amount of rocks and rubber that got kicked up at his M3 made me install the Clearplex first thing at work this morning. If you don't already know what it does, it's essentialy a clear bra for the windshield. We used the ClearPlex IR which has 70% tint (barely noticeable) and also helps cut down on heat. A good installer will get this installed on the car so that it looks like nothing is even there... as you can see in the last two pictures.

GT Carbon Wing Installed
I've had this carbon fiber wing just sitting in my office since last summer and I finally had the time last week to install it. Unfortunately like the rear diffuser, this wing was ordered online from a random company and has its imperfections but I plan to wrap it black anyways. A few people have PM'd me in regards to the install, plan out for an hour or two depending on what tools you have readily available. Most of the tools are common, but you will need a TS27 Torx. Here it goes:
1. Disconnect the connection for the auto wing. For this step I used OzXFR's write up (post #133):https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...7/#post1614196
2. During the above removal process you can use that time to mount the CF wing to the factory wing once it is removed from the car.
3. Start by making templates out of masking tape from the bottom of the CF wing and then transfer them to the factory wing. (There's not much room to adjust except an inch or so front to back).
3. Measure it again.
4. Measure it yet again.
5. DRILL 4 HOLES INTO THE FACTORY WING. YEP.
6. Make sure you drill all the way through both panels.
7. Go back and make the holes on the underside panel bigger (enough room so the heads of the 4 supplied bolts will drop through them) This allows for the factory wing to sit flush when reinstalled.
8. Install all 4 bolts and take your time to make sure you don't over tighten them and potentially crack the carbon fiber.
9. Cover the exposed bigger holes with rubber grommets for a clean look.
10. At this point the CF wing and factory wing are essentially one unit and are ready to go back on the car!
11. Complete the rest of the steps in OzXFR's writeup on step 1.
12. Go for a drive and make sure the wing doesn't come up at 70mph (It shouldn't).
A few people were wondering if any dash lights come up now that the rear wing motor is disconnected and the answer (at least what I found) is that a light stating Spoiler Not Available will come up at 100mph and above. At this time if you currently have your Traction Control off, it will automatically turn it back on. Overall I am pretty happy with the CF wing but still plan to paint or wrap it black in the next couple of weeks.

The Clearplex appears to have a prominent blueish tint.
Is that true, or just the angle of the pictures?
Would you mind sharing what this might cost a fellow F-Type owner?

Recently someone detailed fitting a CF replacement factory style 'wing', where, as part of the procedure, the factory 'wing' was separated into its 'inside' and 'outside' parts (held together with 3M style tape) using a heat gun. Presumably, you could have done that and had no holes drilled in the factory 'inside' panel, leaving it pristine... yeah, too late...

The cost to do ClearPlex on an F-Type runs $475.

where did you purchase the ClearPlex? I want to get some as well and get the local PPF installer to do it for me... they don't carry ClearPlex themselves for some reason.

Best Cars and Coffee I've been too! Lambo's, Ferrarri's, McLarens, and Porsches galore. Even a P1, couple bugatti's and a 918 for on display. Not to mention the stylish silver F Type with awesome rear wing.
Great group of folks, awesome sponsors, great cars. Only one question, why do some dork's always feel the need to excessively rev engines and do burnouts near these events???
