The Hate Is Real Porsche 718 GTS Roadster Driver Throws Up His Middle Finger
So Im driving today open air on the freeway and I spotted an Porsche 718 gts roadster so I zoomed right by then he catches up and sticks up his middle finger at me. Ever since I got the F-Type I notice it steals the shine from people driving other luxury/ exotic brands. I never had so much attention and so much envy driving since getting an F Type. The F-Type is really a showstopper car. I been on the freeway and people in their Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Maybachs, Maserati, Ferrari, Porsches, Benz Amg Gt, BMW, etc they all thought they were cool until the F-Type comes zooming tearing up the expressway with pops and bangs you can just see the envy on their faces. But today just further confirmed it for me when this Porsche 718 gts convertible driver races up the freeway just to sticks his middle finger up the hate is real out here.

Until I drove a mate through Belgium, I didn't even know what other drivers or pedestrians thought of my car (because I'm genuinely not the slightest bit interested what other people think
), but apparently lots of people looked. It is a pretty car so I'll let them off.
EDIT: Honestly though, if somebody stuck their middle-finger up at me I'd just laugh it off and carry on with my day safe in the knowledge that I'm not as petty and insecure as them. I had a Tesla try and show off ahead of me once, accelerating quickly every time they had slowed down and I went to pass. After the 2nd time I dropped back, let another car pass me just to put some space between myself and the fool - I have no interest in getting into silly games that lead to trouble.

I've been an F-Type owner since 2018. I have never experinced anything would say came even close to hate. Appreciation? Often. Indifference? Yes. Looked down on? Yep. Hate? Nope, not even close.
F-Type owners, for the most part, are very realistic about their cars. There are better cars. There are faster cars, there are cars with better tech, their are cars with much better resale, etc. We appreciate them and don't make them out to be something they are not. Outside the Jaguar world, the F-types often get mistaken for Aston Martins, which is not at all surprising. At car events, they are sometimes seen as a poor mans exotic, at others an unreliable curiosity (still can't shake the reupation of years ago). They often don't get the level of respect that a Masserati GranTurism does, which I find a bit ironic. On a rare occation, someone will fawn over the car.
Even among the snobs in their supercars who will accept the afformentioned Maserati and a base AMG GT, there is not hate. A feeling the F-Type doesn't belong in their crowd? Yes, often, but nothing that would even approach hate.
I think you have an inflated opinion of other people's 'jealosy' of your car.

Our cars (at least to me) are an absolute steal at the used car prices. I just picked up an 07 Porsche Cayman S at a good price and that was less than $10k less than what they say my mint condition 2016 R should sell for which is CRAZY. I simply couldn't see selling my F Type for that kind of money unless I was in dire need.
I am just speaking on my experience this was the first situation I ran into which it was clearly some kind of hate from a Porsche 718 gts driver sticking up his middle finger. I had another situation a female in a Honda rolled up yelling out the window saying "Oh you think you too cool" I replied back and said I dont think I am cool lol. I know some drivers dont pay attention to what other cars are doing on the road but I do especially when I run into other luxury and exotic brands I do notice facial expressions at stop lights etc. The F-Type turns heads and attracts lots of attention and envy. Had a lot of drivers come up on the expressway tryna race which I dont do.

Probably just a one-off butthead giving you the middle etc…Lots of those out there.
At the end of the day your experience is your experience, and your thoughts/perceptions of how others view you and your car is what it is. I’m certainly not trying to dispute it.
I have never had thoughts that the F-Type is the best car in the world in my thought process. At least for me it is clear that there are cars out there that the average car enthusiast will be more interested in than the F-type.
But this does not matter. Why? Like others in the thread here, man, I literally could give a hoot what anyone thinks of my choice. I chose it for me alone, and my interests, at the end of the day. It met my price range and interests better than anything else. End of story. I guarantee you that most people though, if they had more money, likely would choose something else (possibly myself included).
There’s lots of criteria people apply to their choice, but price is the main reality most normal people have to work inside of first, and then other criteria gets applied…Let’s be honest here…
This car showed up at cars and coffee on Sunday in my region. If you look carefully you’ll see my lowly F-type R off to the left side of one of the pics ;-0, Let’s just say the majority of people were not standing around my F-Type R.
This Ferrari was the star of the meet that everyone was interested in. The owner was a really great guy pursuing his car dreams. Not snobby at all, super nice fella. I can assure you he was not thinking about my F-Type at all, nor were most others there (Did I mention that I could give a crap? lol ;-0). Myself included. His car was crazy incredible.
Over time there are definitely people that show interest in my car and want to talk about it. There is no doubt. They get some attention for sure (a little too much overall for my liking). Even the odd one tells me it’s their dream car…A lady just the other day actually…It’s fun these interactions, and I’m happy to have chats with people that have an interest, but I definitely don’t need any validation from anyone when it comes down to it. Whatever, super happy with my choice. These F-types are incredible for sure.
The gas station is the worst. I can’t go there for a quick fill up without a 20 minute chat with someone who wants to talk about the car…It’s pretty funny ;-0
Jaguars and Ferraris are on different planets in every which way. A Jag would not be satisfying this guys interests where he is at with car buying, price brackets, etc…Which is completely fine, and there is nothing wrong with that. To each their own.
Cheers

I got more attention initially but now my NA Miata gets more comment. If someone gets angry with me it might be that they think I'm driving like an *** but rest assured, that wasn't me. Some other guy that might have looked like me, for sure.
When I got my MV Agusta F4S in 2000 there were none legal in California yet, so it got a lot of attention. Probably 99% of the people who saw one in the wild in the Bay Area in 2000 saw mine. I clocked 17,500 miles on it in the first year. I emptied a local Cycle Gear store on a Saturday by pulling into the parking lot. That was fun for a while, but the fun wore off. That's one of the reasons I went with Storm Grey instead of Firesand

You can pick up an 14-16 F Type V6S or V8S convertible for under 30k with low miles or under 20k with mileage over 80k. Best bang for the buck for sure. You look at other exotic cars selling for high prices and you start to wonder what you are really getting. Sure theirs cars with higher horsepower more performance and handling but Im not for sure it wont give you the same satisfaction as driving an F-Type. I know if I owned a Porsche 911 or Mercedes AMG GT Vette BMW M I would be feeling kinda jealous or showing some envy at seeing a F-Type zooming up the road top down with pops and bangs tearing up the freeway. The F-Type is a showstopper it pops up to the crowd and steals the attention.
1-guys who own those other more expensive cars may be like "hmm that's a nice looking car"....aaaand then buy one for their teenage daughter lol
2-likely when you are "zooming" people may be getting annoyed because you're driving aggressively around them
3-keep your ego in check. You have a nice car but as you said, anyone who could afford a Toyota Corolla could buy one of these.
there is a good chance the "hate" is brought on by yourself. I am glad you love your car, and having some pride is ok, but your better than them attitude is misplaced and delusional. Trust me, most of them do not really care, and think you are a boy racer when you try to start something. Go to a track day, learn how to drive your car well, and then when you pass somebody on the track that is something you have actually earned, not paid for.
ok reality check here:

Furthermore here are other car community threads from Vette owners claiming Porsche owners hating on them and Ferrari owners hating on Mclarens

I think this “hate” has nothing to do with cars in the end. These people that act and think like this, they probably bring the same attitude to most things. These are personality and maturity problems, not car problems/issues.
Regardless, interesting video. Perhaps we’re just more polite up here, but certainly the meets I go to: Everyone is super down to earth and seem really nice, easy to talk to…You know, mature.
Perhaps the answer is finding the right group of people. I can’t imagine wasting brain cycles on that kinda thinking. It’s ridiculous.
I like to believe that most people grow up eventually, but I know that is not always the case…lol

I knew there was a lot of hate from some Porsche owners and fans maybe some of the people in this forum hasn't experienced it but the hate is definitely real.
