Unless you have a Golf, the question is irrelevant. But here goes: Sounds like a cheap 4-banger with some decent snap, crackle, pop.

I don't have a golf but just though it was a weird article of trying to make a golf sound like an F-type.

Sounds pretty meaty to me. Not as sharp and raspy as the f type 6 but I'd be happy enough with it, assuming that it didnt come with a Golf attached.

99% of punters wouldnt know the difference between that and the 6.

If that could be done with a golf, why didn't they do that with the new 4 pot sound

It doesn't sound like an F-Type to me, but it sounds good for a 4 banger. And I agree this sounds better than the 4-pot F-Type, a bit too raspy though, no depth.

If I had a golf I would like it to sound like that, and indeed I have come across a few recently that do, but it doesnt sound like my f-Type at all.

How to make a Golf sound like an F Type: Put a V6 or V8 in it.

It is a Golf "R". This is not a cheap 4-banger but a highly engineered 2.0T with 292HP. The whole Golf line is has exceptional build quality. The GTI is a fine one too with about 220HP.

The Golf line-up is the best you can buy for that kind of a car. Fit and finish is above the Jag line-up.

I don't think the OP is asking us to compare the sound of the Golf and F-Type.

For a 4 cylinder, it sounds great.

The R is a $35k car. The Jag is $90k........

+1. If it looks like a Golf and drives like a Golf ... then it's a Golf regardless of what it sounds like.
But, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
