No AC at all - what could it be?
Hi,
Just picked up an F-Type—everything works except the AC. On the lowest setting, it only blows room temp air. Warm/hot settings work fine. Tried all settings, including recirculation, with no luck. Checked forums but didn’t find this as a common issue.
Dealer says they need 1-2 days to diagnose, so I’ve dropped it off. Any experts have insights on the cause or fix?

I dont know what it is in your case but it recently happened to me. The mechanics replaced the rear battery, it wasnt charging properly, then the a/c compressor shat itself all essentially in the same week Whether 3 was related to 1 or 2, I dont know, but a new compressor was comparatively cheap so I didnt really get upset, even though I thought it was mightily coincidental, or more to the point I suppose getting upset was pointless and I dont have the knowledge to argue even if I wanted to.
The most common cause of those symptoms is low refrigerant (gas), which in turn is usually due to a leak somewhere in the system.
So the first thing to check is the refrigerant level and if low conduct a leak test/check.

I agree with OzXFR. Could be low freon. Also the compressor could be shot. The compressors also have a clutch that you can usually here click on from under the hood if you listen when they A/C is engaged. If the clutch does not engage you don't get any cold air.

If you're low on refrigerant, the compressor won't kick in so you might falsely believe you have a bad compressor when it's really just low refrigerant. Definitely check the refrigerant level before starting to look to parts as the problem.
Thanks so much everyone for chiming in.
I just received a call from the mechanic he says it is the AC moisture sensor that has gone faulty. Apologies I'm not mechanically inclined but I haven't heard of this part before. It's a few hundred bucks to replace.
Anyone heard of this crapping out?

I have not heard of that part failing before, but consider yourself lucky. That is way less than a new AC compressor would cost to replace.

The A/C failed in my ‘18 XE last summer. An Indy said the system held pressure, so he just repressurised it, which seems like it worked. It defogged fine all winter, though I haven’t needed actual A/C yet.
My wife and I also have an E-PACE that had the same problem of barely blowing warm air on a trip when the ambient temperature reached 100F degrees. Each time I shut off the A/C and ventilation, waited a minute or more, A/C would be restored for a few minutes. No problem with freon pressure or the expansion valve. Somewhere on the E-PACE forum it was explained that the fan that forces interior air over a temperature becomes gummed up over time. No air reaching the sensor shuts down the A/C. I guess that the same sensor and fan is used on other Jags of the same era, including F-Types. One gent removed the dash panel and cleaned the blades on the fan. Supposedly, that resolved the problem. Rather than removing a dash panel I've been using compressed air and straw to blow grime off the sensor fan. That seems to have done the trick for a few months.

I don't know what the sensor looks like. I just aim compressed air into a vent in hope that cures the problem.
It also just occurred to me that perhaps an old battery might be the cause or, at least, contribute to the fan and A/C not functioning. Our E-PACE and F-Type are 2018s with the original batteries. Same thing with our 2015 F-Type. Even with my hooking up the batteries to CTEK maintainers when the vehicles sit idle for weeks, it's definitely time to replace all the batteries. I forget who it was on the F-Type Forum who told me that the BMS (battery monitoring system) is designed to shut down ancillary electric/electronic equipment when a battery has a low charge. I'll find out if a new battery does the trick when I make a 2,400 mile round trip to East Texas in May-June.
