Default Refueling gas in California

Hello everyone,

I'm considering the Jaguar F Type but after reading through many threads here, I didn't know that there was a problem pumping gas at gas stations into the Jaguar F Type at gas stations in California.

Can owners who live in California chime in and let me know whether they have this problem? It seems inconvenient.

Thanks for all the help!

Yes. And I can speak for most of the California owners that the F Type (as well as other JLR cars) have issues re-fueling. For me it really doesn't bother me anymore.

That seems so inconvenient. How do you all deal with it or know when to stop refueling?

I started another thread about this when a "fix" came out.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...ut-now-151082/

Its a mixed bag as to whether or not it helped, fixed or didn't fix the problem. Typically most owners hold the nozzle at an awkward angle to fill up. F Types have about an 18 gallon tank. Its pretty easy to gauge when the tank is nearly full if you know how much is left. When the light comes on for me, I can usually fill up about 15-16 gallons.

Hit or miss, even after the fix...truly annoying...but I still wouldn't let that get in the way of owning the car.

Fortunately for me no problem here in as I top off mine to get an exact mileage # as the computer is off 2-3 and inconsistent. No problems at all.

Had my 2015 F-Type Coupe R for over a year. My daily driver, and I've never had a problem fueling my car.

Maybe found one pump at one station that was a bit fickle, but aside from rotating the nozzle slightly in that one instance, this has not been an issue for me.

I have had the gas tank "whistle" back at me once or twice immediately after removing the fuel cap, but that passes after about 5 seconds once the back pressure escapes from the tank.

About the only annoyance that I could possibly find regarding refueling is that once the auto-stop on the pump handle kicks the refueling off, the configuration of the fuel tank and filler tube in the F-Type does not leave much room for topping off. I have a peculiar habit of always trying to run the pump to the next full dollar... I can do this if the auto-stop terminates above $x.65, but no way I get to the next whole dollar from $x.15... but were talking third world problems here. I'll survive. maybe!

Your story in the other thread WhiteTardis linked to was really unfortunate. I hope you're still loving your Jaguar F Type.

And I hope the newer models being sold in calendar year 2016 are as nice as the previous poster with no issues at gas stations.

I think I can get used to this problem. I guess the bigger question is which one I would rather have: Jaguar XE or F Type, but that's a completely different discussion. And the XE isn't out yet either in the US until April/May so I've some time. I also hear the upcoming F Types will have an option for the newer computer console/InControl 10.2" so I'd rather have that than the current InControl console.

I drive exclusively in Southern California and I've only experienced one problem during a fill up of my 2016 R's tank....and I fill up a lot.

I had great difficulty refueling my car right after delivery. I could not get gas into the car without the nozzle constantly clicking off no matter what I tried. Not only did it take forever to fuel my car, I looked like an idiot doing it.

I had the service bulletin update performed last year and I have not had one problem properly fueling it since. Jaguar contacted me directly after I expressed my concern and they were excellent in seeing that the problem was fixed on my car.

Thanks to everyone who answered. I look forward to test driving it and considering it afterwards.

I have had issues even after the fix although I'm not sure if I got the updated part. In any case, it happens every once in a while, maybe 10% of the time? The lack of a cap holder is even worse IMO.

Fuel cap is hooked on the little tab during refueling.

Despite my skepticism when I first saw that holder, I have found that it works well.

I have tried it, it has not gone well for me. Maybe I'm just hamfisted.
