Window drop on door open is laggy/delayed?
Hi all, as title states. When I open the door (from outside, I don’t notice it as much from inside), I have to pull the handle partway and hold for a second to allow the window time to auto-drop, before I can continue pulling the handle to open the door. I can’t use one motion to open the door, otherwise it “sticks” because the window is still secured in the top of the roof seal.
I’ve reset the windows, no recent battery shenanigans, etc.
is this just a thing I have to deal with? I’m used to just opening a car door....not making it a two-step process. Wondering if this is normal.

Try resetting the battery system.
Unbolt the earth/ground lead from the negative battery terminal from where it bolts to the floor of the trunk, leave it off for 30 seconds, then reconnect.
No guarantee this will fix your problem but it's quick, easy and free and there are an amazing number of problems that can be fixed by doing this.

Aaaand I just found that disconnecting the battery does not fix a little electrical problem I have had for the last few days - getting rid of a spurious airbag fault warning light on the dash. I was 99% sure it wouldn't work but I tried it anyway, no go.
I had the top plastic trim piece on the steering wheel changed out for a new one as I had ruined it trying to remove/fix all the stickiness on it, and the driver's airbag cover (at least) and I suspect the airbag itself has to come off for that job. I had read that once you do this the airbag warning light is triggered and the only way to turn that pesky light off is via SDD (which usually means a dealer visit) but I assumed the shop who did the job (a specialist Jag and Land Rover shop) would have SDD and would turn it off but not to be.

Have you tried the passenger door to see if it behaves the same way? Wondering if there might be a separate switch to tell when the handle has been partially pulled, to give the window a head start. A friend with a Boxster opens his door slowly for the window to drop, but I’ve never had to pay any attention to mine - it’s quick and timely.
I’ll look at the schematics when I get a chance.

The V6 Repair Manual shows that there are both door glass drop switches, and door ajar switches, though it doesn't discuss them at all. I'd have to think your issue is related to the glass drop switches - I'm guessing yours isn't working, and it's dropping the window when the door ajar switch closes.
If it works properly on the passenger side, then it's pretty clearly the driver side switch. If neither work, than it's more likely the CJB, which they connect to.
