Default 2003 8-way seat wiring

Hello all, my name is Ed and I am new to the Forum. I purchased front seats, model I am not sure of as it was several years ago, year is 2003 or later as that is on the control module. I did search threads but couldn’t find anything specific to the control module or wiring. I do have a picture of the driver seat control module as well as wires that are stripped, which were that way when I received the seats.
The wires that are stripped: I am the black wires are ground. As for the red/ blue & blue/red I assume they are power. I traced the twisted yellow and blue wires to what appears to be the interlock, information I did find in a thread said to ground them. As for the twisted blue & blue/yellow I have no clue. Wires not stripped: I have no idea. If anyone has a wiring diagram can you please share it with me? I will attach pictures.
Thank you any/all help. Regards, Ed

ps does anybody know what the red/ black connector is for?

ejcbud, For reference, those seats are from a 03-08 S-TYpe based on the part number. As for making the seat work, you should need to take the 3 black wires and apply them to the negative of a battery and the two red wires attached to a battery positive. That should allow the seat to work. i will need to double check the wiring diagrams to confirm that. As for the blue wires, tape them up as they are not needed for power application. Granted, they may be affecting seat operation. I would again need to check the diagrams and see what their purpose is.

Thanks for the reply Chris, I will connect the red and black wires as suggested and see if the motors function, I will post my results. As for the blue and yellow wires I will await your feedback. Not sure if this matters, I purchased the seats to install in my 72 Challenger project but they are to big. A friend of mine has a project he needs seats for so I want to make sure they work before I give them to him. Thanks again Chris!

ejcbud1, I am looking at my diagrams and they are showing something different than you have. So, lets see what you come up with when using the wires that are already cut. The blue wires more than likely are going to power the front of the seat to allow it to go up and down to support the part of the leg just above the knees.

Chris I just wanted to let you know I haven’t been able to get to the seats again as other matters and have priority. When I have time I will do as you suggested and let you know the outcome. I really do appreciate your help with this. Thanks again!

Chris I tried the wiring as suggested an no movement at all, not even a click. Just to confirm, as pictured I see 2 heavy gauge red/ blue wires, which I connected to battery +! Also I am using a motorcycle battery for power.

ejcbud1, I am going to have to look at the pictures you included and see if I can figure out what wires we need. Something is not making sense as the wires you show and what I see on drawings are not matching up. I may have to go about this a bit of a harder way to prove out each plug and then take things from there.

Default It’s been a while

After quite a bit of time I got back into attempting to get the driver seat working (from 2003 S type). With the assistance of a friend we decided to start on the passenger seat, we did a thorough tracing/labeling of all loose wires. In doing so we found a brown/green power wire which goes to the seat switch pack; not to mention the known red/blue wires, which change color after the first connector. Upon connecting the power wires to +battery and black wires to -battery the seat came to life.

Onto the driver seat, we applied the same trace & label, doing so led us to the same brown/green power wire. We connected the wires to the correct battery terminals and tested the seat function. The seat moved up/down as anticipated however the track motion activated then immediately stopped. Already knowing about the seat track Airbag sensor we attempted to fool it to no avail. I believe the issue is that there is no Airbag control module as these seat are going in a 1955 Ford F100. Looking at the wiring diagram the sensor signal is fed back to the airbag control module, the only other module for it to communicate with is the seat control module; however since I don’t have the airbag module there is no to/from communication! What I need to do is find a way to get around this problem, any and all help is greatly appreciated

This is an update for my 09/09/2025 post. Today I decided to connect power to the driver seat to do a little troubleshooting. I didn’t do anything different than before, to my surprise the seat track motion came to life, not sure why but a win is a win. Thank you to all that helped me/viewed my post. Happy trails to all ‼️😊

When you get the click and a small movement that is a system failure mode. It allows you to (eventually!) move the seat so you can repair it. These are PWM controlled seats so you have to bypass all that and get to the switch connections directly.

Are you putting them into a different car?
