Welcome to the forum Barniby,

1963 was well before the time of VIN on UK manufactured vehicles. Chassis and engine numbers provide much less information.

The 888460V suggests a 1963 E-Type Series 1, 3.8 litre FHC, LHD. The engine number prefix RA indicates manufactured Feb/Mar 1963.

If that's about right it's a valuable special car. I expect Jaguar Heritage & others will have details.

Thanks for any and all the help but I have my Jaguar Heritage certificate now and can determine
all the missing info my car. Born April fools Day 1963FHC, all numbers match (vin, engine body and tranny.
Color Opelescent Golden Sand, black interior with White roof liner and trim. Works for me

Good to hear you got the information from JHT ...... and I was close with interpreting the chassis and engine numbers.
