Default XF 2017 , 3 L diesel oxygen sensor

I currently have my car up on ramps to change the oxygen sensor , I am sure there must be a trick to teaching the almost impossible inaccessible nut , the final piece to removing the existing sensor, I have tried everything I can think of. The bolt is long and preventing me from getting the socket on , I have a 50mm socket but it’s too short , a 100mm , too long. Can anyone advise ?

Why not use an O2 socket?
Easy to find at any parts store too.

Two kinds available. I have and recommend both styles to give you options. There is NEVER enough room!

Or this kind.

Sometimes a plain old 7/8" box end wrench will work too.

Not really? It's just a push tab and then pull apart the connection but again as you found it's just not that easy! I never have enough room to get both my hands on those connectors. I have resorted to using a screw driver to pin or hold the O2 connector against the car body so it does not move and use bent needle nose pliers to compress the tab. Since it's all plastic watch how rough you get with it.

It does help if you have the new O2 sensor as you can sorta practice on that push tab on the bench. Instead of on your back with no room and little light under the car!

Yes I have just ordered the new one and thought at least I can have a look at that in good light rather than fumbling in the dark !
Thanks for your advice.

Now I have P0670-13 Fault code , glow plug module control unit. I am told it is under the right air flow box, I've removed that but I see no glow plug unit!
