Default What Superchargers came on what cars?

I was just wondering what the different series of superchargers came on various jaguars, from the first xjr in 95 with the inline 6, then with the 4.0, then the 4.2, and finally with the 5.0. Does anyone know each code name for each supercharger that was fitted with each engine?

I know that the Jaguar XF 4.2L SC has an Eaton M112.

The 1995 - 1997 XJR uses Eaton's M90 model.

The latest 5.0L Jaguar V8 (AJ133) engine is a completely different engine from the 4.0L and 4.2L V8 engines. It uses the latest TVS (Twin Vortices Series) generation of spuerchargers from Eaton. The capacity of these superchargers is expressed in cubic centimeteres, unlike the capacity of the M series superchargers which is expressed in cubic inches.

are you saying an M90 is the same as an M112, or how would we say an M90 is in CCs, and an M112in CCs, that the TVS comes out to?

M90 and M112 superchargers have the same design of rotors (same number of lobes and helix angle). The M112 rotors are 24.4% longer than M90 rotors. M112 rotors would probably fit inside an M90 casting, in terms of the centre distance between the rotors, but they would be far too long for the casing. If you look at an M90 and M112 supercharger they have the same cross-section (perpendicular to the rotor axes). An M90 has a 90 cubic inch (1,475cc) displacement per supercharger revolution and an M112 supercharger has a 112 cubic inch (1835cc) displacement. According to www.superchargersonline.com, the 5.0L Jaguar V8 (AJ133) engine uses an Eaton TVS R1900 supercharger. This would have a displacement of 1900cc.

So the supercharger sitting on top of my engine has bigger displacement than the engines they put in most Civics?

Jko, theory says one revolution of the blower, would double the air into the engine(1900cc), so theory says it would double the power!

of course it dont quite work out that way in the real world, but if you did do it , you would have some serious power.

You were a Jaguar engineer? That is so cool, i'm studding to become a mechanical engineer right now and my dream job would be to work for Jaguar. How did you like it?

I was a Jaguar engineer too, involved in the development of the AJ26/27 , AJ33/4/6 and the AJ133 type at Whitley.

The M90 was also tried for a variant prototype of the AJ35 ( was going to be fitted in the Lincoln) for about 320 Bhp but this was canned.
This unit was also tested in the 3 litre JV6 for the X type "R" which was unfortunately cancelled too as was the X600 sports car.

The X type R would have been quite a machine.
