1999 XJR. Intermittent RP light, and hard check engine light.
Hi Guys,
It seems that this is a common XJ affliction. The car runs fine, but the CE light stays on, and RP pops on, usually after the car is stopped and well heated up. It stays on for a minute or less, then pops off.
I've cleaned the MAF sensor, but am still getting P111 codes, as well asPO171, PO174 (lean, both banks). I've ordered a new breather hose as I noticed oil on the valve cover, and a bit on the intake downstream of the MAF.
Brand new air filter, and there are no obvious vacuum leaks.
What's next?
Thanks,
Max

Welcome to the forum Max,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
The possible causes of P0171 and P0174 are:
1. Engine misfire
2. Air intake leak between MAFS and throttle
3. Fuel filter, system blockage
4. Fuel injector blockage
5. Fuel pressure regulator failure (low fuel pressure)
6. Low fuel pump output
7. HO2S harness wiring condition fault
8. Exhaust leak (before catalyst)
9. ECM receiving incorrect signal from one or more of ECTS, MAFS, IATS, TPS
P1111 is a status, not an error - all OnBoard Monitoring tests have been completed.
