Default 2005 jaguar VDP Differential

I have a leak out of the bearing on the driver side of my differential, along with a quiet humming noise while driving. Can someone tell me what kind of bearing I need to buy? I've searched the net and I found some from the $14-$40 range and then another kind of bearing for just under $400. What kind do I need? Inner or outer? Do I need a seal too?

Welcome to the forum dreyco86,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. Sorry to hear about the diff issue. It might only be a leaking seal and low fluid so check with members in the X350 tech section for parts and procedures.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-x350-x358-xj6-xj8-xjr-28/ to the X350 section for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Northwest Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/northwest-washington-oregon-idaho-sw-canadians-64/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the forum dreyco!

The diff seals are available to buy from Jaguar (the ones that seal to the outside of the diff case) but the bearings are not.

I recently had the diff in my 2005 XJR rebuilt (at the same time as fitting an LSD) and I bought a bearing & seal kit from the supplier in the UK who sold me the LSD.

Unfortunately I didn't write down the part numbers of the bearings, I only took a photo...

You can see the part numbers for the seals on the bags, there are four bearings, 2x from Koyo, 1x from Timken and the other came without a box...

The Koyo ones are for the sides of the diff center, the Timken and other are for the pinion.

Try contacting TL Jaguar or Racing Green in the UK. I also remember seeing a website of a company in the US that fitted a Quaife to an X150 XKR (has the same diff) and they found the bearings needed.

Hey Pavel,

The bearings were identified as generic Ford bearings, same as the Lincoln LS and a few others.

The part number for the bearings is in this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...arings-102296/

I got your message on the other forum, please go to this thread https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...ids-sdd-77299/ and continue the discussion there, very interested to know how the ratio swap went, and if your guy will be able to reprogram the ZF transmission, he's not in Bulgaria is he?

Thanks, I've finally found the numbers and will update that thread. The guy is in Czech Republic.
