2013 jaguar xf idle issue
Hi, when I start my 2013 Jaguar xf supercharged 3.0 v6 (not always does it happen but 4 out of 10 times) the car will idle real high for a few seconds and then come back down to normal after a bit.
does anyone know why this is happening or how to fix this problem? thank you in advance.

Welcome to the Forums.
I suggest a re-ask in the XF (X250) Tech Section.
My S Type V6, and the X Type V6, all start COLD at about 1400rpm, and settle to 950ish within 20 seconds, and down to normal after about 60 seconds. Maybe the same as the XF, not sure.
Good luck.

That's the Cold Start Circus playing up. My 2009 Hyundai does the same thing on all the but warmest mornings.

It doesn’t just start off high it goes like this
push button to start,
starts up regular and then it’s as if somebody stepped on the gas peddle with a real heavy foot shooting up super high
going going going then drops to normal like nothing happened
and its not all the time. It happens maybe 4 out of the 10 times I would start it. Always at a place where it’s embarrassing to start it as I just know it’s gonna happen

Welcome to the forums milan23,
Good to have you with us.
Jaguars should start with high idle (say 1200 rpm) and then drop to normal idle after less than a minute depending on ambient temperature. This is to ensure rapid warm up and reduce emissions. If your XF is NOT behaving like this, I'd suspect a temperature sensor fault. A code reader is the best, fastest and lowest cost way to find out because throwing parts at a Jaguar soon becomes very expensive.

The OP, milan23 has not been back on the forum since posting this question in July 2019 so you are unlikely to receive a reply.

I had this same issue on my 13 xf 3.0
by me it was a bad 02 sensor. Changed it and hasn’t happened since. (Engine light only came on once or twice but was happening for a long time with no engine light on)
