Angry Engine swap

Hello all jag lovers, my name is james and I own a 2000 xjr supercharger. I recently bought a 98 xjr replacement engine under the advice of a machanic telling me that it will fit my 2000 xjr, well it fits but the cam sensors does not match up. Can some one please tell me how to rectify this problem or call me if you have a used 2000 xjr engine for sale or let me know a good place to shop for one. thank you so very much, James in Tacoma, Wa.

Welcome to the forum,

Good to have you with us.
Head over and ask in the tech section.

If you haven't already done so you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Welcome to the forum.

Good to see you.

Maybe edit you location to be a little less specific.

Best of luck with your swap problem.

Welcome to the forum!

If you create a post in the right section as mentioned, I or others can already give you some good advice, as not all parts can be swapped over between different engine years.

It is easier to go from AJ26 to AJ27 as the CMPS is missing from Bank 1 in the cylinder head. The cams are different (1 AJ26 CMPS lobe vs 4 for the AJ27) You can leave the CMPS disconnected from that bank but drilling a hole and locating the sensor might be difficult.

I have posted a story about a customer that did the AJ27 to AJ26 swap but did not disclose all the details until I was well into the diagnosis.

The torque converter drive plates with the CKPS reluctor segments are also different.

Good luck with the swap.
