Post First Jag 2.5L X-Type Estate

Hi all

I am in the UK and have just got my first Jaguar it is a 2.5L X-Type Estate.

I am into modifying cars so I have some small plans for this not to stick out. Looking at a small sub in the boot not to take up any of the boot space, taking out the centre silencer and maybe increasing the size of the exhaust to get better performance and a slight grumble and lastly new wheels want to keep them jaguar original going from 17" to 18" or 19" I would prefer 19".

What are peoples thoughts and ideas?

Hello & welcome , nice to see you here . Exhaust mods are OK but don't expect any increase in performance . Don't!!! put 19" wheels on an X Type . The best wheels for acceleration , roadholding & performance are 16 & 17" ( & the best looking ) Bigger wheels ( according to tyre choice -not low profile ) will make your Jag, look, rumble & crash like a John Deere tractor as you are also raising the centre of gravity .

I have been looking at tyre sizes and can have a set of 19" with no increase in height (centre of gravity) if running a set of low ish profile tyres 35 side wall.

The exhaust is so that I can hear the engine I would not expect any performance gains.
