Just bought a 2006 xj8 with car too low warning. Tested relay tonight. All ok. Have power at one side of f6 but other side dead fuse is blown. Will disconnect wiring from compressor when it's dry outside and try a new fuse. How often do the compressors just die. By the sounds of it here its more common for the seal to go bad. Any pointers would be helpfull. Anyways greetings from Canada

Thanks Jerry I checked the R1 relay and the F6 fuse in the engine compartment. I found the fuse blown ??????? so thinking It must be a bad compressor I put the car up removed the wheel, removed the inner wheel liner, removed the front panel below the bumper, removed the compressor and bench tested it with a battery and 30 amp fuse. IT WORKED. I reinstalled the compressor partially, put the wheel back on , replaced the blown 40 amp fuse, started the car and it came up well see how long it stays up , curious to find out why the fuse was blown Oh well I have to put everything back properly now

Thanks for the run- down on your procedure. Looking around the car yesterday I was struck by the plethora of "don't come in here" panels and wondered if all my time for a repair would be removing and replacing them.... could be worse I guess...
